They found the prison doors unlocked, but with freedom moments away, Acamar paused... and returned to the dark. His voice echoed through the hall.
“For the others. For the children.”
Here and now it ends
We don't remember the first crack
But we will all recall the flood
There go the edges son, but just you wait
I never thought that we would go this way
We stand at the edge and watch the whole world crash around our feet
This is more than each of us
This will be the end of us now, I swear it
Believe me
Just one word
And welcome home was all we heard
Through bars we built ourselves
They'd already won
Just one word
And welcome home the empty herd
She always said "I won't believe it -
You've found your voice, now let me hear it!"
We left the tyrant, now undone
Drowning at his river's end
We turned our feet to run
The words had called us, son
We knew the world could end by just one
Just one word
And welcome home was all we heard
Through bars we built ourselves
They'd already won
Just one word
We should have known
The empty herd
She always said that we would soon forget
But there's one word left in the box yet
As stone turns to dust around us
This gift to afterthought brings her own weaknesses
Opening the prison door comes as no consolation to us standing here at the end
There go the edges, son
We stand at the edge and watch the whole world crash around our feet
This is more than each of us
This will be the end of us now, I swear it
Believe me
Just one word
And welcome home was all we heard
Through bars we built ourselves
They'd already won
Just one word
And welcome home the empty herd
She always said "I won't believe it -
You've found your voice, now let me hear it!"
Hope
When the world is quiet, just a whisper breaks your rest
An unfamiliar sun brings a brief and welcome blindness. For some, the first taste of warmth in the longest time. For Acamar... bathing in the light brought memories of many years before.
60 years... was it 70? In the dark, the days would bleed together. Blunted nails carved his own epitaph generations earlier...

It is because they are Australian unfortunately... Just look at Karnivool and Ne Obliviscaris. From Australia. Absolutely amazing... Down side is Australian bands need some large funding to tour anywhere but Asia which like is worthless. If they had more funding for U.S tours for instance I feel like their fan base would spike.

Mirko Fustinoni Australia is killing it. Check out Transience, Sadhana, and Breaking Orbit. Some others I probably can't think of at the moment.

+Mirko Fustinoni I can hear all of the bands you mentioned in this song. It's good, but where is there own hand? Valhalore are a good up and coming Gold Coast band if you are into Viking themed metal.

+Mirko Fustinoni Parkway Drive, Thy Art Is Murder they are both Aussie bands and are absolutely killing it on the world circuit... Parkway did their first three months in the UK sleeping in fans places and out in the forests and that cause they didn't have any sponsorship at the time for accommodation... Aussie band just don't get the recognition like UK and American Bands do...

+Mirko Fustinoni I recommend Ne Obliviscaris. Epic progressive black metal with a dominant violin. You definitely need to check them out, if you haven't already (which I assume, since the artists you named attest a great musical taste).

Mars Topia I took your advice and checked out Ne Obliviscaris. I agree with your assessment that they are indeed talented. I fear I may have approached them with a hope of finding something to fill the void of the loss of My Dying Bride (the violin years). Maybe where I look for a dark beauty and vampiric caress, the jazzy progressive sound of perfection has a cleanliness that reduces me to tasting Twilight. I think if I approach them in an alternate frame of mind, they will grow on me. But thank you again for introducing me to the hidden talents. I have become frustrated that so much metal that is created these days is just a clone of something that has already been. The best I've come up with to date is Fleshgod Apocalypse, maybe Noctem if talking brutal.

So did I! When I was editing it, I had it slowed down to 50% for a lot of the cuts and the camera audio when slowed down sounds like a zombie herd. Your 5 (now 7) year old is on to something.

This is more along the lines of the djent style of prog. If you'd like more traditional/older progressive metal, I'd say try Dream Theater, Circus Maximus, Symphony X, Darkwater, Devin Townsend's solo stuff (for the most part), Haken (though they do a lot of prog rock as opposed to metal), Teramaze, Distorted Harmony, later Porcupine Tree, and Arcane (Jim Grey, this band's singer's former band) are good places to look. Could also take a look at Opeth and Between the Buried and Me for some of the heavier stuff, too.
