I like the noise. I have a 2013 Laguna with 10k on the odometer. No problems yet with the MT-82 but from all I have read said problems are on approach. Calimer 3 sounds like the best option for me. And if the noise eventually gets annoying then I will get ear plugs. Problem solved.

It's a race trans. The noise is irrelevant, at least it is to me. There's a local guy here in Indy with a '12 boss who's running a T-56. You could also go that route... I went with the Calimer because the T-56 doesn't jive with magneride.

Same. The only clutch option when I ordered was the McLeod. I hear the Mantic works really well.

Looks really legit! do you remember how much was for the round trip shipping of the tranny?
@tee-dots95322 жыл бұрын
$310 covered the trans, clutch, cable, and fluid. I sent mine to them afterward for the core refund, but I'm sure they factored that freight into my cost.

@@tee-dots9532 Did you just stick to the factory Ford fluid? Do you get many 1-2 gear shifting lockouts anymore?
@tee-dots95322 жыл бұрын
No. I use Calimer's recommended Amsoil transmission lube. As far as lockouts, none. With the stock trans/clutch, it would lock out the 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts and the 3-2 downshifts. Never really had issues between 3rd and 4th. If it was locking out, I'd just move to the next gear, which is probably why I never broke the stock unit.
@Ashtn4202 жыл бұрын
@@tee-dots9532 Ah yea interesting. Haven't broken mine just am getting very annoyed with the gear lockouts. I've heard lots of people say as well that they get a 2-3 lockout but I actually have never really experienced this myself. The 1-2's are abysmal for me though. Will almost guarantee lockout 1-2 if you don't feather it in at high rpm. Starting to try to just shift earlier in the revs just to be able to get a satisfying gear change. I'm really glad to hear your response, because for the longest time I was thinking of doing a T-56 swap but building the T82 would be so much easier and cost effective. Also heard you have to have an extensive tune for the rev matching feature on the 18+ mustangs which I have if you change up the gear ratios with the T-56. Definitely looking forward to getting my trans to Ben Calimer once I can afford a job like that.
@tee-dots95322 жыл бұрын
I had the same frustration with lockouts. They were basically guaranteed if I tried shifting at anything over 6,200 rpm. I like the T-56 option, but unfortunately with a magneride car, you have to have a way for the system to communicate with the trans. There's no way for the T56 to do that. I think the only other trans besides the MT82 that will work with a magneride setup is the Tremec 3160, although I feel like that option isn't really much better. Also, In my conversations with Dylan at Calimer, it would cost quite a bit more to build a T56 to handle the same amount of power the stage 3 Calimer can handle. And then there's the lead times... Rev matching didn't start till the 19+, so I didn't have to address that. What DID have to be addressed, though, was the cruise control. I couldn't engage the cruise in 5th and 6th gears until my calibrator adjusted for it. Not a big deal, though.

@tee-dots95322 жыл бұрын
Love it. Sound wasn't a factor. I just wanted to make sure I could make the power and have a trans that could handle it. Yeah, it's noisy, but race car. :p

It made 736 hp / 574 tq on pump gas. Gonna try and get the E85 tune set up maybe next week. I'll get numbers for the 120mm pulley (which is what I'm running for the pump tune) and the 110mm. We'll see how it goes.
