So, always being on the center crosshair for different distances is realistic ONLY if you are dialing your elevation turrets. So in real life you'd have to dial according to your dope for each shot. NOW THERE IS A WAY to take multiple rapid shots accurately, and that's using elevation holdover where you're using the extensions of the reticles based off the dope. You can pre-index ranges by drawing a loose depiction of the environment and notating the distances at key places.
