Man, this campaign is basicaly an history class. Despite the inaccuracies and the facts on the missions have never happened, this campaign is awesome

It’s CoD they’ve always stretched and skimped on stuff to make it like an action movie. There’s literally an intentional 2011 Jeep with a modern TOW launcher in Vietnam 1978 in this game. Storywise the relationship of the forces in conflict comes first. The finer details of how it was, is or could be irl are secondary.

Everything that's been done off the books won't be known. So killing the scientists that may have been scientists from World War II when occupation on Germany was split, some of the scientists were spared, in the cost of working for the Soviets, or it's death. So. With that said, whatever happened, no one will know who killed who.

Think of it happening in reverse. It's 1969, Florida, USA. A launch as a part of the Apollo program is scheduled today at the Kennedy Space Centre, but a Soviet operative is found on-site and captured. Then, 4 more Soviet operators, wearing US Army uniforms, burst in, shoot up the place killing a bunch of American soldiers, rescue the captured Soviet spy, kill more American soldiers, blow up the rocket (and for added punch, let's say Niel Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin are on that rocket) as it's taking off, break into the control facility of the space centre and start killing a ton of scientists and soldiers, and then make their escape trying to kill two senior US military officials. If this happened, such a thing would be unimaginable. Hell, America would be justifiably outraged and it would probably be used as a reason for all-out war. Yet, when American media depicts the exact same event but with the sides and the locations reversed, barely anybody thinks twice.

Most of the story in BO1 was based around tracking down codes for sleeper agents in the US, along with the Master Code to activate a chemical weapon, "Nova 6," which was a weird "extreme, gaseous, nuclear, melt your skin-but not your hazmat suit, mustard gas," type thing. Problem was, the place where the codes (for the sleeper cells and the Master Code) were being stored was lost in transport somewhere deep in the Arctic. So the Russians and Americans are racing to find these codes because they both had their own "strands" or "versions" of Nova 6, each having their own levels of stability. (It was just a metaphor for nuclear weapons). Anyway; it's safe to assume that *this was* a test rocket, but it was a test to see if they (the Russians) could keep a rocket stable enough to fly a very unstable substance for a few thousand miles, "into the heart of the West." The whole point of the Americans destroying the rocket (imo) was *just in case* the Russians did get the codes, they didn't have readouts/stats on a test flight and couldn't make corrections for the next rocket test, which would've given the Americans more time to do whatever would've needed to be done, and so on. Hope this makes sense and I'm not just rambling. I only played through the whole game once when it came out so that's as best I could remember.

Theres an unlocked Intel where apparently mason, hudson, and weaver escaped to South africa since mason was still a threat to national security. In 1978, tbey escsped. There was an operation with the MI-6 to eliminate them all. But the mission wasn't reported to be successful or not. It seemed like there was a deal made since we saw mason and hudson return. Weaver was never mentioned so its either he was killed or changed identity and lived a different life
