I'm going to buy on steam but only when I'm on sale but I don't intend to play multiplayer I'm just going to play the campaign and extinction mode but will it be alone is it still worth it? I'm just going to play all solo

It's quite dead on PC. There are usually some players online on weekends but even then it's often under a hundred players. In weekends, you can mostly find one of the few active lobbies in a reasonable time (~about a minute) but connection may be bad because of the long distance between each player. On week days there might be not enough players even for a match to start. Also, there are unfixed security concerns on several older CoD titles (including Ghosts) that could make your PC vulnerable to remote attacks. You're better off playing this one on console. PS3 still has heaps more players than on PC and you can comfortably play even on week days. I'm unsure about other consoles since I only own a PS3.

It still has some players on weekends mostly. It is one of the least populated CoDs on PC. Only option is TDM, base maps (no DLC players). Mostly under a 100 concurrent players online. On week days it may be hard to find other players. I would not recommend buying this on PC especially at full price if you only plan on playing multiplayer. PS3 for example, has much more population on week days as well.
