And then you get an achievement called time paradox. Because you change the events of the future. This may be the after math of that happening.

Alex could be ghost . On his wiki page it says something along the lines of , the past 6 years living a series of assumed identities to achieve sensitive objectives whenever needed . Judging we don’t know Alex’s last name only by “Alex “ he could be Simon Riley and used the name Alex for this mission . And during the campaign he says what happens when a cia goes to sleep , he goes undercover . He could imply sleep as in death , except he isn’t dead , and has moved on to another identity. This could be possible since gaz was Caucasian in Cod 4, now he is a poc .
