it’s the ADS for the NVG goggles, since the goggles are big and would hit whatever optic you’re using

When shooting at night, you generally don't try to look down the sights, hence the IR laser. You'd hit your NVGs as the other guy said if you tried to. So you just brace it on your shoulder and aim with the laser. Tho you'd keep it off until you're ready to shoot, otherwise the enemy will know exactly where you are before you even fire if they have NVGs too

@@Oyebadumn the laser should be only useful when hipfiring though, or at least when using NODs there is an option to switch between which sight you want to use, whether its normal optics or laser (just like when switching between hybrid sights).

Because NODs block your to aim at scope. but irl yes but not as reflex sight depend their distance between the sight. Most irl are always hipfiring because no one can make distance between scopes and sights.
