The worst part of war is that once you are bloodlusted or covered in vengeance, is hard to difference between those who really raped and committed war crimes and those who didn't and just were there doing duty or forced to serve in the military. Then, you became the same monster you sought and swore to destroy. Just try to imagine all the innocents in both sides who were annihilated thanks to the actions of others...

Their main goal was to protect the motherland no matter the cost. So naturally they fought for everything they had. If anyone was caught leaving a battle or retreating the commissioners and officers were ordered to kill them. Hence the term "Not one step back". Mercy was not a luxury to the Nazis every single one that was found by the Soviets were either gunned down or tortured and then either shot or bleed to death. Pretty brutal stuff but then again in times of war the only thing that remains is survival.

I always loved how the theme of Russians in any ww2 game was slow and steady like this. Often with choirs of people singing in unison. Russia in ww2 fought long, they weren't fast to adapt to the initial threat, but they slowly yet surly held firm against seemingly infallible military stratagem. They ground their enemy to a halt, explosed the cracks in their plan, and struck with their hamer chisel against these imperfections, chipping away at their foe. They fought as one group, united by the common plight they faced and when the enemy came to meet them, they were met with a foe that was unrelenting and filled with unwavering resilience

This game was one of the few pieces of media of any kind that managed to make WW2 feel like the shockingly apocalyptic, history-sundering event it actually was. There's definitely something thrilling and sublime to the earth-shaking grandeur of these two armies grinding against each other like steel continents, which this track also captures (I mean c'mon it's cool as shit), but in the end I especially admire and appreciate the game's entire theme of industrial-war-as-horror-story, where the inexorable logic and machinery of this conflict itself is the monster stalking men and tearing them apart before your eyes, opening its own portal to hell you've all fallen into together. I think it's one of the best shooter campaigns of all time, I still think about it over 10 years after playing it that Christmas in 2008 (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be here), and it needs a remaster more than just about anything.
@rexanator1005 жыл бұрын
When I think about how this was even possible, the atmosphere and the music and even the game itself, all I can think about is because they CARED about what they were making, thinking about it, Treyarch probably made this wonderful piece of gold with not even a fraction of the budgets that they get nowadays and look at modern games: they have no theme, no atmosphere, no inner thought, its just "shoot this shoot that" no thought on whats really happened, and it really hurts knowing that a studio that once truly CARED about what they were making - a game that represented the second world war to the best of their ability - could do all of this simply because they put love and devotion into it, hell, this game was even made faster than the modern steamy piles of shit we get nowadays, they made this and B01 in 2 years and nowadays they get 3. Im so glad this popped up in my suggested. The one thing I will say, When this game first came out, I started off with the demo first on PS3 Back in 2009 I was just 6 years old, I played the first American missions were simple but I felt uneasy from the war in the pacific. I played through those missions feeling traumatized as I saw heads blown up and the Japanese getting burnt to death. I didn’t have any idea what the story was about and had no idea that ww2 existed I didn’t know was getting myself into... It wasn’t until the first mission playing as dimitri when I saw the real horrors of war. I felt more nervous as the missions went on and I could feel the pressure of war and saw this video game as a destruction and a glimpse of what a man can do to another man. Seeing the cutscenes in between the missions and saw the real footage being used terrified me but I felt so shocked I kept watching all of them. And I remember specifically that one day I got to Complete the campaign from start to finish and stood there, completely shocked at what I just witnessed as a 6 year old. And now.. ever since that day, whenever I hear this theme, I feel myself having the nostalgia, but getting the flashbacks and the thoughts of what war is really like. But today I am 17 years old, and I want to say, that this game was life changing. One wish I could have, is to please remaster this game, so I can experience it all over again. Thank you treyarch.

It's amazing how nationalist the USSR became once they were betrayed by Germany, they went from a people ripe with the fear of Siberian gulags to men and women ready to literally move entire factories across the country to mass produce. They pushed the enemy out of Stalingrad, forcing the best German regiment to surrender with their own surrounding tactic with thousands of tanks and were unstoppable until they reached Berlin.

I hate the new cods. But the older ones have a special place in my heart. Black ops2 was the last good cod imo
