the blood vials were to prevent themselves from getting wiped from existence AFTER they defeat the shadowman. The blood vials created a paradox; Mob of the Dead was wiped from any existence, but our characters had them, meaning,like the Mob of the Dead characters, they are stuck in an endless loop; they cannot be wiped from existence. They can try over and over again until they get it right. If you notice, each character has two blood vials. However, they used up only one vial during the process... meaning they can still do SOMETHING with the other one. What that is? We have no clue. There is speculation of a "Super Easter Egg" that will be unlocked after Xbox and PC get the map. It will supposedly explain everything. Remember the cypher in the Giant? "PRIMIS WILL FAIL." In this ending, they became PRIMIS, but were destined to fail, thus repeating the cycle OVER AND OVER again (the cycle encompasses everything from Origins up to Revelations). But, the rumored "Super Easter Egg" might be a different ending; one where they could potentially be PRIMIS, but will be armed with the knowledge on how to stop the cycle.
