You ever get the urge to play a good brainless shooter? Y'know, the kinda game where you can just turn your brain off and shoot some dudes? Me too. Today, I've got something special to show off. This is by far the best brainless shooter I've ever played. Is it the one of the best games I've ever played? Hell no lmao.

Me and my friends have this genre of "weekend games" which are (usually linear) games that can be completed in about 5/10 hours or less on a casual playthrough. Call of Juarez Gunslinger, Metro 2033/Last light, Hyperlight drifter, inscryption, firewatch all are great games at less than the 10 hour mark for one playthrough. As much as I love my 40 hour+ RPGs, MMOs and open worlds with "unlimited replayability", sometimes a game doesn't need to overstay its welcome and just offer a fun experience.

I agree with you on this. It's a great game, very fun and in general straight-forward. You can come back months later to a game halfway through and still enjoy it effortlessly. It's short and to the point, doesn't pad with hours and hours of bullshit and errands, gives you what you want (a solid shooter) with some fun story telling. No more, no less. Is it the best game I played? Is it ground breaking? No. But it is what it is and doesn't try to be everything at once, does what it does very well. Appreciate this little gem as not a lot of games do this nowadays, most games aspire to be the next big hit that gets constant updates and grind and has to be played all the time.

Gunslinger's story has it's problems but my god I don't think I care enough about it's problems I love it too much. Juarez does what it does best, just being fun.

Gunslinger is the 4th game of the saga although I'm not sure if it shares much with the previous entries, I remember playing the first and second ones as a kid and they weren't that over the top I think. Nice video, loved it !

Yeah I forgot to mention that it's a series. If I did mention it, I'd've just pointed out that nobody gives a shit about the other games, and the company makes zombie games now lol.

Great video. I loved this game when I played it - it's unapologetically fun and the way it frames itself as a tall tale 100% works in its favour. Plus it just oozes atmosphere.

I happen to finished it recently and I found your review pretty spot on. The duels felt a bit strange for a first playthrough and maybe that was the fact I was on pc. What made me comment though was the Rachet n Clank Gladiator OST at the end. Damn.. I use to play that game all the time a decade ago and had totally forgot it until now. My last braincells reacted to the song and after failing to shazam it just clicked...Im gonna try finding my PS2 now.

You could consider Odyssey maybe, ive yet to check that out but apparently its more creator friendly for now so maybe its worth trying to ride that wave. Another great video! Like usual. Game seems really cool, especially since I've been playing Red Dead 2 recently, so I got that Western itch. Also I've been meaning to get Sekiro one day. Also pretty cool to hear Sam Riegel as Eisenhower.

迷えば敗れる… Sekiro isn't for everyone, but the ceiling of fun you can have is way higher than even Bloodborne. Yesterday I finally got to the point where I could kill the hardest boss, with all the optional difficulty modifiers, without taking damage.

I bought this game because this review, wont lie, i play the whole thing in two days, and, i played with a big ass smile on my face, the story as goofy and exagerated as it was, was like watching an old west movie, and that was awesome. Just stumbled onto this video of yours today. And yeah, thoroughly agree, and live by that same approach too. Something being of objective quality, and something I'd personally love are, more often the case, a separate fare. I laugh at your small point about DUSK because I'm pretty much on that same boat; I played the game and I do see, and I WILL NOT deny, it oozes passion, genius, craftsmanship. It's a great game, and rightfully considered the top dog in its genre, "boomer-shooters"...But I just can't vibe with it for some reason. Meanwhile, there's Prodeus. Overall visual design leans more to generic sci-fi and the whole game's feel and presentation is unoriginal. Despite running on the same engine Dusk does(unity), it's a bit more unoptimized. And their death/life system baffles me. But man, of all the games of that genre that came out, even I was surprised on how much it hooked me, becoming my most favorite in a great(quality-wise), long line of recently-released retro-shooters.

@@Toastoffire100 I think it's tragic that because of its relatively poor performance we're unlikely to see another Prey game anytime soon. I love that game to death. The level design was fantastic. Wasn't terribly fond of the gun-play unfortunately. None of the weapons really felt like they had much punch besides the shotgun, and even that felt a little soft. That wasn't even close to enough to throw it off my top games list though.
