Funny thing about fish farms: They darn near as profitable as off-shore oil and gas extraction, but they're held to a MUCH lower safety standard, and they also treat their personnel terribley (long hours, unpaid overtime), on top of paying them a pittance compared to the offshore industry. Genuinely, the environment - along with the westcoast salmon stock - as well as our economy would be significantly better off with the oil industry on our doorstep rather than these fishfarms. That's how horrendous they are.

The creator of these Frankenfish sent letters to Canadas Dept of Fisheries advising them not to use the roe he sent them as these GMO salmon were flawed (they had underdeveloped heart valves and 20% died before reaching adolescence, )Canadas fish ppl ignored the warning, the wild salmon migrate through these fish cages and get sea lice and diseases that’s also been killing them off,…Montsanto fish, but don’t worry, the govt says they’re safe.

Scientists , tourism, whales, native groups want the fish farms closed - AND big money wants the (I believe all foreign owned) fish farms open. I'm rooting for the native salmon, not the farms.

After two years of unsettling stories surrounding alleged mass graves of Indigenous children at residential schools throughout Canada, recent excavations at suspected sites have failed to uncover any human remains. This development has been cited by some academics and politicians as additional evidence that the narratives lack concrete proof. During the summer, Minegoziibe Anishinabe, also known as Pine Creek First Nation, conducted excavations at 14 sites beneath Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Catholic Church, located near the Pine Creek Residential School in Manitoba. These "anomalies" were initially identified using ground-penetrating radar. However, on August 18, Chief Derek Nepinak of the remote Pine Creek Indian Reserve confirmed that no human remains were discovered during this "initial excavation." This terminology has led skeptics of the original claims to speculate whether further excavations are planned. It's important to note that while some are hesitant to label this situation a "hoax," they do highlight the proliferation of unsubstantiated information and the absence of concrete evidence surrounding this issue. Consequently, there are growing concerns about the validity of the claims, which has sparked a debate over whether Truth and Reconciliation Day should remain a holiday

I do not care how it brings them together as a family, salmon farms are disgusting, abusive, and sad. I may be a meat eater but veganism is looking better n better by the day with these sad animal farms.

I often think of it because I read the book on the fall and decline of the Roman Empire. And reason I have been thinking about it lately is because we are following the exact same path.
