Also another point is that he literally says what will be the signs of the last days, he specifically says the events that will take fold. Which kust proves that he knows, but refuses to tell them because that is the Fathers job to do. The Bible amazes me day by day by its complexity and divinity.

According to St. John Chrysostom, Christ tells of the angels being unaware of the exact day of His return “so that men should not seek to learn what angels do not know,” and to forbid them not only from learning the day, but from even inquiring about it. According to Mk 13:32, and in Chrysostom's Matthew text, Jesus declares that the Son also does not know the day of His own return. Chrysostom teaches this is not to be understood literally, but is a figure of speech meaning that Christ, though He revealed all the signs that will accompany His return, will not reveal the exact day to anyone, and that believers should not be so brazen as to inquire of Him.

I see the 7 days of creation.. so I see 2 thousand years before abram / Abraham , then 2 thousand years until Jesus on cross, now its been 2 thousand years to now.. so its been 6 days.. The 7th day is the millinium or day of rest with jesus on earth with us.. then a new earth and heaven will be made at the end of the 7th day. So.. my point is that while I cant determine the exact day.. its got to be very soon!!! This afternoon.. tomorrow.. next year.. or several years from now, all in Gods timing and plan, but God gave us the 7 days as a guide to know when Jesus woukd return. Its a little scary because I have children and grandchildren who don't believe.. so if rapture is true they will have to go thru tribulation and or suffer judgement very soon, but its also exciting because Jesus will get tid of the bad guys, and If im dead my soul will be with Jesus having a great adventure.

Would Jesus, being Jewish, not also be referring in respect to the wedding feast of Jesus and His bride. My understanding (teachings and some self study) in Jewish culture the respect is given to the Father. The groom had not yet left his home to fetch his bride. He was not the head of his own home. The bride waited for the groom after he had gone to prepare the marriage home. She however had to be prepared as the groom could return at anytime. Matthew wrote his gospel specifically focussed on his people, the Jews, so it makes sense for him to be specific on traditiond that his readers would undetstand. I hope that makes sense. This is something I've been taught, based on Greek text and doing some research on Jewish cultute and traditions at the time. Just curious if anyone else has been taught this. Jesus knows, but His respect for His Father indicates he won't announce it and cannot be asked to give the hour. That's not his role. God the Father is the only one to whom that is ascribed.

I always took that verse to reference a Jewish custom that the father would announce the wedding. The bride and groom know the day and hour to be wed but the announcement and authority is given to the father. I do like Sam's explanation alot better though as it's quite hard to find a quick source on if the wedding custom was actually rooted in Jesus's time.
