I love watching Trinity play. I didn't even realize she was Dennis' daughter until I recently began watching women's soccer. Her feelings about him is also a new revelation to me. As a father myself, with 2 daughters, this really touches my heart. I hope they both know I love them immensely. Dennis had a tough childhood that scarred him. He was an emotional wreck since Pistons days. The man eventually found alcohol, drugs and sex to cope with his issues or to forget em. He’s addicted to escaping his problems. I’m sure he feels a lot of guilt about abandoning his children and that continues to fuel his addiction. I never had a child but wanted to. Trinity is an absolutely lovely young lady, well spoken, charismatic and beautiful and any dad would be proud to call her daughter. Hope she finds a way to not hate her father but also not let it be a source of pain either. Trinity and her brother seem like great people.

Hated em all my life and at 40, I found out through meeting his side of family on facebook that he is schizophrenic. So, that explained it all. All my anger went away and i understood it wasn’t bout me…it was his demons. He had to live with his mind…and I just didn’t fit in his life for whatever reason. Things aren’t black and white. Wish Dennis and Trinity would talk it out with help of therapist just to lay it all out. With no expectations. Just to hear each other out.

obviously she knows her dad better than us but Dennis grew up in an extremely fcked up family situation. dude was basically homeless and basketball saved his life. he went as far away from dallas as possible to get away from his life there. his own father left them when he was young and he doesnt really know him. his dad had something like 40 kids. his entire concept of family is screwed up. And her being his kid, she wont be able to sympathize with him bc she wants a relationship with him. he is likely incapable of forming one.

Moved from a gang infested area where people would get arrested from drugs and violence all the time when I was a kid in the 1990's. My mom decided to move me, my older brother and her to another city in the Bay Area like 45 minutes away in the Easy Bay Area. I went through the same thing growing up when it comes to living in a suburban city and not having enough money to do things like every other kid that lived in the area. Went to a high school where a celebrity donated $1,000,000 to help build our school gym in the 1990's. My single mother could not afford to give me anything to do anything growing up. Missed out on doing a lot of activities, out of school that my friends went to. Didn't go to Junior or Senior Prom because both cost like $300+ each just to go to either prom and couldn't afford to go. Both Prom's was at a Hotel in San Francisco. Some of the kids at my school were like 16, 17, 18 years old coming school driving nice expensive cars. Meanwhile I had to walk or take bus every where I wanted to go to in the city. I had friends in high school , but it felt so awkward growing up being in a city where none of your'e friends can understand what you are going through. With most of their parents are wealthy and my mom was not wealthy at all.

It’s not her fault that her dad is Dennis Rodman, because he’s always going to be Dennis Rodman on or off the court. It’s not fair to a little girl who just wanted her dad sometimes, but you have to understand he’s never had a traditional upbringing when he was a child. You don’t make excuses for him, you just have to accept it and surround yourself with people who love you!

My mother was one, coming from a family of this disease my stomach would turn on the days ik my mother would have her two days off from work. I had/have a bad relationship with my father but this girls mother is also to blame. Her mother should have educated her about the world and her father. There’s fathers who beat, rape, and criminally neglect their daughters. Dennis did none of that, yes he was a divorced, bad father but the fact that you have a break down every time he’s around means you weren’t emotionally trained to deal with divorced parents. I’m not sticking up for Dennis but there’s literally millions of worse dad’s out there. The mother, Dennis, and daughter should sit down and iron it out.

Just to go further my mother dealt with my bad father one way and my other siblings mothers dealt with his absence a different way. My mom told me straight up, your dad is a selfish, street dude, he doesn’t hate you, he just too childish to be a dad. Don’t expect nothing from him, but when you see him, respect him cause he’s responsible for your existence. So that’s how I treat my dad, I don’t love him like a dad, but I respect him, and he’s actually a cool dude, but he also is everything my mom said he is. On the other hand some of my siblings mom’s taught them to hate him, and made it hard for him to see them as kids, these women bad mouthed him and constantly asked him for stuff he couldn’t provide. So now some of my siblings want to kill my father, treat him like ish. And I understand but really there’s no need for all of that, that’s some of their mother’s anger, not totally theirs.

Great point. Her mom messed up in several ways. First of all, marrying and bringing children into the world with someone who was known to be unstable and had a messed up personal life. Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson couldn't control Dennis. Chuck Daly, one of the best NBA coaches of all time, couldn't control him on the Pistons. Madonna and Carmen Electra... what made her think that she'd get with him and he'd be Father of the Year? And to your point, why didn't she prepare her kids for the divorce, get them therapy for the trauma they were clearly experiencing being estranged, homeless, etc. Trinity has some issues she hasn't dealt with. It's obvious. Her mother should have done more to help while Trinity was young. This isn't Trinity's fault; this mess is on both of her parents.

I had a father who was a doctor with his own practice making him several hundred thousand per year for decades. SAME story. He didn't do much for his kids when my folks were married and ZERO for us once they were divorced. Literally disappeared. My mother had to sue him constantly to get the COURT ORDERED bare minimum child support. He even got locked up a few times over non payment. He still didn't give a shit. Meanwhile, he's rolling around town in luxury cars, living in high rises, etc. Look, some people are all about themselves and in their mind when the relationship with the ex-spouse is done, so is the relationship with the kids. While...I've met him he's very... Brain rotted and I understand generational trauma, my biological father randomly showed up to my graduation it was infuriating. And a lot of MFS saying their mom's turn children against their father's some do but most do not. It goes for mother's too. Any parent who is absent and makes half ass attempts to be in their kids lives just is contributing to the trauma

From the Foster care and some other parents got the kids at 6 years old and then they get mad at them when they are. Teenagers are early twenties and then they say to them you're not with my real mom. You're not my real dad Yes they are. They're not blood but if they had you at a young age like six to 5 years old until you are 20 or plus they are still your family and they're still your mom and dad I don't care what happened in your family circles. They are still your parents you should love them and care about them. Who gives a s*** what happened Even violence it sucks violence but they're still your mom and dad I wish some people told me some stuff when I was younger about my family and love them more before they're gone or tell them you love him.
