As someone who grew up with Sailor Moon I see why shows like ML exist, they want to be that for younger generations. But when you only do the same tropes without any risks or nuance it becomes stale and predictable. I don’t think every magical girl show should be as intense as Madoka but they really need a different approach nowadays. This story sounds sick! I’m intrigued by the story and I’m already drawing my theories on what the holders for each gem stone will be like. I like how each personality (and power) of each aegis has a strength and a drawback and how none of the sentinels have a strong sense of right and wrong. It gives more of a grey nuance to the sentinels that the kwamis lacked. I found it weird that the kwamis naturally knew that they’re purpose was to do good when their purpose is the just give power over to the weirder. (I’m sorry if that came out as shallow but that is essentially what they do-) I also like how the sentinels don’t talk. It adds to the nature aspect of the aegis. (It’s also less annoying lol-) It forces the wielder to try to understand the sentinel more than one would with a kwami. And it builds more of a stronger partnership. One thing I disliked is how Marinette was able to give and take miraculouses even before becoming a guardian. I like that the sentinels determine who to partner with and not the weirder. And I like how the stag wielder is the only person who the sentinels bow to. Some slight critiques I have is that it seems that some strengths of some aegis overlap. Like the wolf and the tiger both exert super strength. (Though this does lead to potential with said aegis working well together in battle.) Idk about all of them, but I imagine the musician weapon for the song bird could be a long flute and for the hawk or the stag, a bow and arrow. Also for clarification can the song bird also fly (but just not as well as the hawk?) or can the hawk only fly?

I really appreciate the feedback :) The wolf and tiger are definitely a bit similar, but the difference is that the wolf has stronger defense while the tiger has stronger attack. Kind of like two sides of the same coin. The super powers do turn the tables a bit, which is more of a balancing attempt to keep each other in check so that neither are unstopabble :) Also yes, the songbird can also fly! But the hawk is better at it :)

I absolutely love this. All the characters are very creative, diverse, and well thought out. I love that all of them are neutral/“gray morality” and can end up as villains, and how well their gemstones fit each other. Also, can I say that I love that you associated knowledge with ravens rather than owls? Not many people chose to do that, and personally ravens are one of my favorite birds. I think, being an emotional and creative person, I identify the most with the songbird aegis. I’d love to see more of this series!

Some thoughts: 1. I was SO relieved to hear that using an Aegis grants the wielder a damage absorption state, after all, those artifacts were named after a shield. 2. All of those accessory designs were SO COOL! If you ever decide to make merch, how about imitations of these? 3. I like how all of the Sentinels' names have some sort of etymology! Some you didn't mention are Felis and Naga, which are the words for "Cat" in Latin and "Long" in Japanese, respectively. 4. As for the question at the end... I'd either be a Songbird or a Raven. As for you, Calli (is it okay to call you that?), I think you'd either be a Songbird or a Snake as you are both an artist and a nurse (huge respect to you for that!). All in all, I really like the concept and can't wait to hear more about it! Keep up the good work!

The way you describe the direction of the story and its relation to the main show is very similar to how I treat Winx Club. I love the first four seasons, and I like the transformation designs of some of the later seasons, but I like taking the idea of the winx club world and making it my own thing if that makes sense

I think the original 4 seasons of WC still hold up and still have a lot of things that make it unique from any other magical girl show.While the show was never explicitly dark,it still had enough subtext for it to not be completely kiddie and the main example of that is the WC's backstories. But, beginning with S5,Rainbow wanted to chase the younger kid demographic and dumbed down the show with it's unique aspects gone. I get that WC is Rainbow's only profitable franchise and they had to change it to survive,but I wish they had just ended the series at S4 and SotLK and hard rebooted it so that there wouldn't be as much of a disconnect between how the show was written in S1-4 and how it's done in S5 and after. Or if they were willing to be riskier, have it take place after S4 and follow a younger gen at Alfea.

*What I love the about the Aegis:* *How they're neutral:* They do not know the distinction between good or evil unlike the Kwamis who all know they want to be good. *How the aegis users are nature-like:* How they do not have unrealistic body like Kwamis but bodies like the animals we have in our world. Also how they cannot speak our (human non-other species) language(s), which would make the users try to understand them better. this could form a better relationship with the aegis and their wielder. *How aegis try to find a wielder who suits their interest(s):* Which is what I love the most because Marinette was easily swapping miraculous in the series. Not only that but to give them to randoms. I like how you can't do this with the Aegis until they have the proper judgment of said user. This can also help aegis users and the aegis bond as well. *The names and stones:* All the stones properly suit the personality of them. Now the names are all amazing because they're all a reference to an -ology like Naga meaning long in Japanese. These were all so creative and lovely. Also something I would find amusing is all the aegis around their own species, how would they react?😂 Sorry for any bad grammar by the way.

I'm slightly confused about the limits of Changing Winds. It manifests a lucky/favorable event through the user's will and focus, but how big could that event be? It could be the difference between causing a foe trip over a pebble at a vital moment, causing a foe trip onto your spear and impale themselves, or causing a nearby mountain to explode all over your foe and their army, crushing them all in one full swoop. Without a proper frame of reference I can't really understand how the Hawk user could ever lose, especially if they started the day in a motivated mood and with a decent cup of coffee to help them focus. I guess I'd like some more examples of what Changing Winds could and _couldn't_ do and in what exact contexts it would likely be used, 'cause at the moment my imagination is leaning somewhere in the realm of Domino from Deadpool. Of course, I could always be misunderstanding your meaning of the power.

The general idea is that it alters probability in favour of the person using it. It makes events favourable to the user more likely to happen, but it doesn't guarantee it; the greater the change in probability, the more unlikely it is, and the greater energy it takes to make happen. Twisting their ankle on a piece of inconveniently placed rubble in the middle of a ruined city? That's already fairly likely, so that wouldn't necessarily take much in the way of odds-finagling. But tripping on a piece of rubble and falling over in the right direction with enough force to impale themselves? That requires a LOT more variables to line up, so whilst possible, it would take a lot of concentration and a lot of energy to push the odds in that direction. In the heat of battle, you're not likely to get a moment to concentrate long enough to change six or seven variables at the same time, and the "passive" version of the power takes the path of least resistance; changing a single variable in a way that helps you, but is unlikely to result in anything bigger unless the wielder then takes the initiative. Likewise, the power can't make possible things impossible, or impossible things possible; there always has to be that 1% chance of it going wrong, and it can't break the laws of physics or causality. EG, you can make somebody trip over their own feet, but you can't materialise a rock out of nowhere for them to trip on. Plus, another limitation is that the other person still has free will; if they start to fall and notice the spear, they can try and twist out of the way. There's no chance involved there, really, that's down to their own reflexes and instincts. So if chance isn't part of the equation, Changing Winds can't touch it. Does that make sense?

Of all the powers though, I really think the Hawk's would be the hardest to write around and keep balanced in a way that doesn't confuse or upset the audience. It's kind of like the "99% chance to Hit = 100%" and "50% is a Miss" sayings used by turn based combat fans: if you're doing a luck roll but the player (or reader, in this case) can't see the calculation unfold then they're going to call a 1% Miss complete bs or a 50% Hit a miracle because "wtf that should have hit!" or "wtf that's never hit before!". Basically, any luck based power needs to be balanced and treated with _extreme_ care in a Show Don't Tell medium, or else it will be seen as either completely overpowered or completely useless until the plot seems to very conveniently demand otherwise, which could risk the whole power getting slapped with an unwarranted Deus Ex Machina sticker down the line. I hope you're able to keep it tight and defined in the execution!

@@conspiracypanda1200 I think a solution to this would be if the raven and hawk aegis holders worked together. The raven could analysis the situation and/or use their power to see what’s going to happen in the next few seconds and then tell the hawk what they should do to be most likely to get the outcome they want. That way it doesn’t solely relay on luck. If they’re able to work in coordination changing winds is more likely to hit/have the intended effect, but if the raven is k.o/not here at the moment or misses something in their analysis, there is a smaller probability of changing winds working since it’s then fully relaying on luck and concentration. But the hawk might not be able to concentrate because they’re too used to having the raven by their side which could then make for some good character development!

Thank you for bringing up Tokyo Mew Mew! I rarely hear anybody talk about it, and between your mention of it and the upcoming reboot, I'm honestly very excited! ^^ All of the Aegis are beautiful and intriguing to me, but I immediately knew the Songbird was my personal favorite. The immediate mental image I got was of someone who maybe doesn't think much of their power singing to their allies who have lost heart in the midst of a tough battle, their song being what allows them to keep fighting. That or using their song to instill crippling hopelessness and/or apathy in their opposition, turning the tides of battle in their favor almost instantly. That said, I can also see a more blatantly villainous individual with this Aegis singing one of my favorite songs, "Queen" by Loren Gray, to instill respect and fear for them into a crowd of people. Tell me the lyrics "Boy, you better bow down on your knees/Can I get a yes, your majesty?" wouldn't hold immense power in the hands of a Songbird Aegis Wielder.

Honestly, this is such a cool idea! Both that the gems are not exactly good nor evil, but instead intrsincally connected to a concept is genius. If your don't mind, this video inspired me with some character concepts for this setting (These are not in order an I'm only doing those that caught my eye): - Raven Aegis wielder: Dunno why, but the phrases "Part the veil" and "curtain fall" give me hardcore "gentleman thief" vibes. So I'm picturing an anti-hero Private investigator type of character, who is in search of a personal truth and is on the side of no one but the truth they are searching for. As for costume design, I imagine somthing practical for investigating with a bit of a gentleman motif, Sort of like a mix between Tuxedo mask, Arsene Lupin and Sherlock holmes. For weapons, I would say either a cane sword or an umbrella, to fit with the gentleman motif. - Songbird aegis wielder: While Crescendo and Descendo give hardcore music vibes, however, I would personally put up a poet instead. I say a poet because of the possibilities of the poet transforming the emotions to verse when they use siren song. Imagine a dark scene, where the song bird wielder uses pain to fuel siren song against an opponent on a climatic scene. That has the potential of being a pretty awesome scene. As for costume design, this one is up in the air, as I'm not the best when it comes to clothing, but for weapons I do have an idea: Either an oversized formal pen (Yes, I know, but I'm fond of oversized normal objects as weapons) or a small booklet where the wielder's poems manifest whenever they need to use siren song. - Cat aegis wielder: This one has the potential to get a pretty tragic backstory. So, like the evil author I am, why not give it to a happy-go-lucky Journalist filled to brim with wanderlust, who is on the search of a scoop that will satiate their needs. Like with the Raven wielder, I picture her as being on the side of no one, however unlike them, the cat wielder isn't subject nor loyal to finding the truth, as much as having the freedom to chase what they want to chase. Soooo... probably some good chemistry with raven wielder? Dunno, but they do seem like opposite thematics that can work well together as team. As for cpstume, this one gives me a more casual jessica jones style of clothing. For weapons, probably a camera, which can probably aid the character when they use Daydream.

As someone who has never really enjoyed the magical girl genre, these concepts excite me! It’s so well thought-out and the basis for their abilities and designs are very inspired! I like the ambiguity available to each sentinel and the closer relationship to real animals. I can’t wait to see what happens from here! Has anyone else realize the thumbnail has the heroes and hakwmoth (and maybe mayura)from season 1 to 3 not season 4 and onward but vesperia is literally their who may i remind you chloe aka queen bee has been in the show since day one and was even in posters where she was there ( seriously i know thomas hates chloe but come on atleast add zoe when the season 4 heroes come out)

I love this!!!!! Hope we get to see more of it soon.. The drawings look amazing, the shading and the way you drew the different textures ess amazing. You're very talented. Also, the accessories that hold the Aegis are very beautiful, will it not be obvious for somebody who knows a lot about it to see who has the different Aegis? Someone like Gabriel, who has a book about all the miraculouses? I'm very excited to see more of this.

I love how the Aegist also seem to clash with one another. Like if all of them were to fall into a team, they would be naturally repulsed by each other but them all being together is what’s necessary to keep the world in check.

I love this story!! It is amazing!! I would have to say either the tiger, raven, or sparrow would fit me best. While I may be short in stature, that doesn't mean I am inferior, as resilience is needed when achieving one's goals. On top of that, analyzing a situation is what has gotten me this far in life, and has taught me not to repeat some of the same grave mistakes again, and with the sparrow, I come from a very artistic and creative family, and music and the arts have always been a part of my life!! Keep up the good work, and I can't wait to see more of this story!!

It’s really well done! I’m also happy each Aegis has its own ability and doesn’t necessarily overlap one another in terms of specials.I also like that instead of a lot of Aegis (like Miraculous) there are a few amounts and it almost sounds like they are scattered across the world, which would also be a cool concept! Almost every question I asked while listening was answered (example for tiger, would their special effect their team and you answered it with a yes). Having adults instead of teenagers feels MUCH better since they are more mature (not all but enough) than teens. If this actually becomes a thing like a webcomic or something, you have my money 💰!

As a neurodivergent person, I think it would be really interesting to have one of the wielders of the snake sentinel to be autistic/otherwise nd; someone who was forced to mask (cover their symptoms) a lot in order to fit in and not be rejected all the time. I think it would fit really well with the whole theme of adapting in order to survive. It would be also really fun to see their journey with unmasking - would their sentinel abandon them if they stopped hiding who they really are? Or would they stay, because circumstances have changed and it'd be more beneficial for the wielder to change again? So many possibilities ^^

It could be cool if the hawk bracelet was an anklet, reminiscent of the leather anklet a falcon would wear but without the jess tying it to a falconer as a way to tie into the bird theme and the freedom motif

i think you've got some really interesting groundwork laid out here, and i'm down to see where you go with it. i think my overall favorite aspect of it is the nebulousness of the powers, that allow for a range of personalities to inhabit this story. i'm also lowkey-excited to see how each of the aegis' interact with each other; cause a lot of these ideas could be channeled through multiple people. the songbird, cat, and hawk, for instance, could likely be passed around and used by each of their wielders. tiger, wolf, and snake could be similar. but the thing i'm really looking forward to is the characters you make for this, and how they embody, but also subvert expectations, and the interpersonal relationships that form throughout. (and if i may throw an idea at the wall, it might be fun if you made the songbird's character a spirit medium, a la Tyler Henry. They'd literally be channelers for the emotions of the deceased, and bring up very intimate emotions for the living. could be fun?)

this is such a cool idea! i would love to see a show, or even a book like this! i would totally watch/read it, as i am a major fan of fantasy and magic. i can tell you put a lot of thought into each regis and thier powers and the drawbacks! it’s so interesting to see how you describe the people they would look for too! it puts that little thought and makes this so much more relatable to the viewers! i hope to see you design different wielders at some point, and build a world of chaos caused by the 8 artifacts being found

i think i'd be most compatible with the Hawk Aegis considering i love my own freedom and strive to help others gain their own, I would probably get blinded by this desire to help free someone, and be easily captured, or accidentally endanger my team mates by falling for obvious traps. i mean plus, i would love to fly and be free in the sky. I really love this concept and would love to see it become a comic, animated series or even a novel!! This is just a thought, but what if the wolf aegis holder was someone forced into a caretaker role, be it a young (maybe single) parent trying to figure things out or an older sibling who has to look after their younger sibling(s) because their parents aren't around (literally or figuratively). Of course, I'm sure you already have the characters figured out at this point though, and I have no idea of the tone you're actually going for, but I just wanted to express an idea I had. Sorry in advance if I came across as too forward.

I got late for college for being unable to stop listenning to such rich and interesting lore!! I loved all the Aegis, they are all so amazing, gonna be honest, my favorite part was listening to each ones activation and deactivation, there are all so unique and distinct! Your art is GLORIOUS, all the gems and animals look absolutly g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s!! I really liked how you added more storyline to them and I find the new names you gave the kwamis and miraculous. Bc really the names you gave them sound more mystical while the original sound more childish. Honestly I'm still a kid so I'm probably not that good at describing and explaining then the others in comments lol. Feedback: Maybe make the stags eagis instead of a ring maybe a crown or something for the head. Still the same shape but for the head instead so it would match the antler aspect more either way this is just my opinion and I still love what you came up with!
