OMO I say I love you all the time it awkward most of the time but everyone always says it back and smiles it makes their day!! I actually say it so much that my whole family just quickly say it back!! We used to never really say it to each other but I relized one day that today could be my last and I want to make sure everyone who's special to me knows I care and love them until I die!! Now we say I love you all the time and it just so natural!!! I think you should always tell the ones you love that you love them that way they will always knows you are there. I hope you all start doing that because it awkward and frist but it worth all the struggle in the end!!!

Asking about the food must be universal. When I come home during the holidays, my parents always ask what I want stocked (drinks, snacks, cereals, w/e) and what special meal I want. I think it crosses cultures because parents get so used to being the provider (especially food) that it's a reflex to ask if you're providing for yourself? I wouldn't say I'm super lovey, but my parents and grandparents do end every call with 'I love you'. My sister does it sometimes too. Me not prompting it first is just my personality. My family is generally more affectionate than I am.

It isn't just Asian families that find this awkward. Growing up Anglo in Australia in the 70's/80's I had a much older father (he was 50 when I was born) and he was very "old school". One day I saw an American sitcom (probably a repeat of the Brady Bunch or something) and felt compelled to tell my Dad because, you know - he was OLD and could die at anytime - ahh, the way a child's brain works... The silence was deafening. Mum was OK with it though. Like Christine, I found that once I had broken the ice though, things became much easier. So glad I did it. Thanks for a great video again guys - keep up the great work. REALLY looking forwards to the Star Wars stuff.

Phils mom made me cry when she said "I love you till I die." Mothers are seriously the best. I love my mom so much. I started telling her "I love you" and same with Christine, the very first time she was stoned and couldn't answer or react to what I said, but I continuously and keep saying it to her and now she's used to it and she'll give me a kiss on the cheeks and say "I love you" back and that's more than I could ever ask for in this life time. This is on a more serious note, but I was at work today and out of nowhere, I suddenly felt the need to call my dad. My parents divorced 8 years ago and my dad moved to Hong Kong shortly after. We rarely talk on the phone and I don't often feel the urge to call him, especially with the time difference. When I came home, I saw this video come up. To everyone out there, please don't ever forget to love your family because they are the only people who will be with you for the rest of your life. It's something that I took for granted when I was younger and every now and then, I'm reminded of this missing piece of my life that I won't be able to get back. Appreciate your parents because one day, they won't be around anymore and you'll feel guilty for not talking to them more. I will definitely be calling my dad later, just to catch up on life. It'll be awkward to just call him randomly for no reason, but hey, why not?

"I thought you loved me" in the end 😂. & I say I love all the time to my parents and brother. I don't think I did when I was really little (only when we said goodnight and then our I love you's). But then there are so many stories and movies emphasizing how short our life is and how we should say I love you more often to our loved ones. In addition, videos like this are becoming popular so I started saying I love in middle school. Just like Christine said, once you break that awkward barrier, I can tell them anytime and it's not awkward at all even as a college student now. haha.
