It is all part of teaching the kids; there is a time and place you don’t call people by their first name. You

@@stephenludlum9746 well it might stupid what I'm about to say. So that means we shouldn't be called by our names either. Teachers can be like "hey Alice" and we don't care about it. Teachers ask for respect and then act like brats. "ThEy WoRkEd ReAlLy HaRd," to throw a fit over their name which leads to the students respecting them even less. Smart.
@hades396610 ай бұрын
it's not that they're throwing a fit over a name, it's that they're pretty much required to because the school superintendents are extremely anal about the rules for staff. i've had teachers who were super cool and didn't mind being called by first name, but as soon as word got out about it the superintendent cracked down on everybody. that also means the cool teachers had to be assholes about it to make it look like they're doing their job properly, but they tried to let a lot of things slide if the classroom doors were closed. in short: it's the superintendent to blame

In Japan, I taught English in an international school. Back there, every student called us by our first names. Not a soul felt offended. It was simple. It's not what we call someone that shows respect; it's how we treat people that does. Moreover, if we, the teachers, have such a lofty ego, how will we teach our students what humility is....?
