Lovely bit of workmanship. It's amazing what some of us can do with small pieces of wood that other's might throw into a fire 🔥 and other's that would just throw it away. Satisfying 😌 therapeutic 😌 relaxing 😌 and pleasure when you admire your finished piece of work. Great job. Cheers Les.

Lovely crook spoon! Thanks for putting the time into making both the spoon and video. Branches with cranks/crooks have fascinated me over the years and are the reason I got into green woodworking. I am happy to see someone share the process. It is always interesting to me to see how other people go about it. What are your plans with the other crooks? I admire how each shape is unique and communicates with you what it wants to be.
@samuelalexandershapes2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing and for watching! Crooks are just a marvel and a beautiful collaboration between material and maker. Like plums, they are the fruit for spoon carvers! The others will be used for other spoons eventually.. They are in the freezer, being saved for a rainy day. Thanks for following along.

I really read the title as a spoon to eat plums with - “plum eating spoon” rather than a plum wood eating spoon.

Sorry for the confusion!!! It can be used for eating plums too 😂

Do you always carve ‘green’ wood? Ever carve kiln dried wood? You have such skill, thanks for your videos.
@samuelalexandershapesАй бұрын
@ always green! I have tried kiln dry - mainly at the beginning of my journey (9 years ago). It wasn’t really fun for my body nor tools. I found myself hacking at blanks with a saw just to try and reduce material. It felt almost as if I was working against the wood. With green timber, it feels so organic and is (in my opinion) the purest sense of working with wood. 💚

What a lovely spoon! Watching you carve with the axe at the beginning was intimidating, haha. Also, I have to ask, where did you get such a gorgeous coat?
@samuelalexandershapes29 күн бұрын
Thank you! Ahh I hope it wasn’t intimidating in a bad way!!! I wish to make carving as accessible as possible. Sorry if it was startling. The coat was an eBay find! I really treasure. It’s been amazing this winter. My baby daughter fits under it in her sling too. It’s been the saviour for our winter walks!

Hi Samuel, thanks for your video, nice job ! I was interested by your shoes... are they minimalist shoes with zero drop ? They look like so, and that's the kind of shoes I am looking for. If it is the case could you please give me their references ? I hope I am not annoying you with this request. Thanks ! 🌿

Looks uncomfortable to eat with , but at the same time too small to be a ladle 🤔
@samuelalexandershapesАй бұрын
That’s the nature of a bent branch. The ergonomics are chosen already. I will make tutorials for both an eating spoon and a ladle in the future… I have perfect wood for it :)
