Calmac Ferries around Kintyre

Three Calmac Vessels plying their routes around Kintyre and surrounding islands.
MV Catriona operates between Kintyre and Arran and also Tarbert and Portavadie. MV Lochranza connects Gigha to the mainland and MV Finlaggan is the core vessel which serves the Southern Hebridean island of Islay.

Fascinating aerial footage. I remember sailing into Kennacraig aboard the Finlaggan a few years ago. She has probably the smartest, most impressive passenger accommodation in the fleet. The Catriona is a very quiet vessel, no doubt due to her electrical propulsion. I experienced her on the summer service between Lochranza and Claonaig. I have yet to try the MV Loch Ranza on the Sound of Gigha crossing, but your film has inspired me!

Nice video. Can I suggest you give a credit to the bands playing session tunes, in your description. I have to say that it’s refreshing to see a Scottish scenic video that actually has Scottish trad music as the soundtrack.

Outstanding videos. Ships/vessels in their element. Recordings with much time given to the inside of the decks fairly meaningless. . The ferry to Tayainloan looks a bit small for rough weather in the Sound of Gigha.

I was watching Catriona from Portavadie to Tarbert and it looked to be going about 10° to Stbd of where she was pointing. I saw the same on this video, on the approach to Tarbert the wake isn't symetrical. Do we know why? I like the videos BTW.

Catriona is very slab sided and picks up even the smallest wind. Sometimes it is necessary to aim off to counteract the wind or even the tide
