Caltrain KISS trains test running in San Francisco!

At long last I caught sight of Caltrain KISS trains test running in San Francisco! A scheduled weekend Caltrain shutdown to permit electric operation in newly energized catenary in San Francisco. The trains were seen passing through the 22nd Street Station at speed.

Looking at the door configuration perhaps SEPTA should piggyback on Caltrain expansion order however they will be using both doors. Excellent job

Thanks! Use to take the train from Redwood City up to the city from 1991-94 for the 11a-7p shift for SF DPT and looking forward to go drive up to San Jose and take a ride on it to SF -do some shopping & return back to San Jose

So some trains have the low and high doors and some trains only have low doors??

Or is it that CalTrain's kiss's originally had both sets but switched the high doors for plugs?

It is my understanding that these KISS trains have low level boarding and doors in place for a future implementation of high level boarding to be compatible with Cal High Speed rail if and when that becomes a reality. The high level door are now blocked with seats and are not operational-something I scoped out during the Caltrain tour in San Jose last summer.
