This was me as a kid when it came to sports. I had absolutely zero interest in them. The two main differences between Calvin in this story arc and me as a kid are 1: that I never had that built-in dislike of girls that the stereotypical boy that age is supposed to have (including Calvin) and 2: that I would have never have joined a team to get out of being called names. That was just as well, as I was severely asthmatic and thus had no real talent for playing any sport...

It’s hilarious how Calvin was acting when he found out that he was the only boy on the playground 🛝. What’s also funny and also nice is that he was playing with Susie on the seesaw after that. This is one time when he’s actually playing with Susie and being nice with her

I feel bad for Calvin in this story because everyone gave him a bad time just because he didn’t sign up to play baseball ⚾️ and when he did sign up to play baseball, they gave him a bad time just because he didn’t know how to play it

Yeah, this arc is mean-spirited, but realistic. I honestly was a little hesitant about doing it. And to be honest, I don’t particularly want to do the robbery arc any time soon, for similar reasons.

@@SuperJamz64 Well... does your mom at least look like Calvin's mom?
@SuperJamz64Ай бұрын
@@Olivia-vt5db She’s ginger, but she does look a good bit like Calvin’s mom, I will admit, and I always imagined Calvin’s mom sounding exactly like her. My dad’s voice isn’t quite how I imagine Calvin’s dad sounding, but it’s close enough. In the videos where I’ve voiced Calvin’s dad, I try to go for an impression of Bill Watterson based on the recordings of his voice in interviews. I have a lot of inspirations for the voices in my videos. Perhaps one day, I’ll make a video showcasing the inspirations for all my voices.

Gym class sports in a nutshell. Basketball and Volleyball were the worst for me
@SuperJamz64Ай бұрын
@@SeanDahle I’ve been to a lot of schools and gym usually wasn’t too bad, but in third grade, it was absolutely brutal, and we did it in the middle of the school day, which did not help. One time, I said I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of gym and then ran across the school, found a teacher, and asked if I could go home. In hindsight, I may have been overreacting a touch.

@SuperJamz64 6th and 7th grade were absolutely hell for me. Life as a bullied autistic kid for me was bad enough. In PE, my bullies showed no mercy. Thank God I moved from Havre to Anaconda, MT. My classmates in Anaconda were so much better
@SuperJamz64Ай бұрын
@@SeanDahleI’m sorry you went through hard times in your life, and I’m happy things got better for you. I’ve been through a lot of hard times in my life too, so I can relate. 1st grade was a nightmare for me, not because of PE, but because of everything in general. I also went to an absolutely horrible private school where the teachers basically bullied me for the first week of 6th grade before leaving and thankfully finding a much better private school. Everyone goes through hard experiences in their lives. What’s important is that you don’t let it change who you are on the inside, and it seems like you’ve stayed true to yourself and didn’t give into the darkness surrounding you. I wish you the best, and I hope you enjoyed this video. It’s probably one of the hardest Calvin and Hobbes story arcs for me to read, only surpassed by the robbery arc.

I feel your pain! I was physically frail and severely asthmatic and thus had no talent for physical competition. I was always tall for my age, though, so I was decent at defending and rebounding in basketball (though I was horrible at shooting or dribbling, so I was pretty useless on offense). My nemesis was dodgeball, as I am neurodivergent and have an insanely low pain threshold while my height and lack of athleticism made me an easy target. I got to the point where I would intentionally grab a ball and softly toss it to a member of the other team just so they could catch it and get me out right away at the start of the game so I didn't have to get hit with a ball full force. Needless to say, that didn't make me very popular with the other kids on my team, but since I was already among the last ones chosen when picking teams, that didn't really make any difference...
