What is awesome more than anything is, this lad is grounded, down to earth, no crap, no bullshit - no faux american accent. This is what is class about the guy. He doesn't put any airs and graces on for anyone. He lives his passion and loves his art.

Love the way they call this a "home studio". Everything about this studio, from the mixing desk, the acoustic treatment, the many instruments encompassing acoustic, current & vintage electronic etc. are super expensive professional quality. Even the furniture is super comfy designer stuff. He's come along way from leaving his instruments & hardware on the floor in the Equipboard video.

Love to see a marimba and steel drum in Calvin's studio. I played both those instruments in high school band (it was a steel drum band, not your typical brass instrument, HS band.) for 3 years. Some people may not realize that even though things are done on stage with machines, in "electronic music" (a broad term) many sound samples are still recorded from live instruments...nothing beats the timbre of a real steel drum or Brazilian Rosewood marimba, played with mallets or sticks. The same as nothing beats an original Minimoog Model D, when it comes to reproducing it's unique sound properties. Also, I love how excited he gets when he talks about playing his music live and how that's how he quantifies musical success - the volume change in his voice, alone, is noticeable. He loves what he does and he does it well.

I know the EDM Community is going to shit on me for this opinion. But I think that Calvin Harris is one of the best EDM Producers of the past 30 Years. I'd put him up there with Porter Robinson, Deadmau5, Eric Prydz, Daft Punk, Mark Ronson etc, and I'l tell you why. He is one of the only major mainstream artists, who I am very confident doesn't use Ghost Producers, and if you manage to retain such success in the Charts while still producing all of your own work, and mixing most of your own work, I have respect for you. Now, that opinion is going to really upset the EDM Community who are going to call me basic AF but I stand by my opinion.
@VOlDSTARE2 жыл бұрын
no hate to you, but most of the people in your concept of the "EDM community" would not dislike your opinion. most of us look up to Calvin Harris, (and others) for his production methods, humility, personality, and music

Tips for the perfect Scottish accent: 1. Pronounce every sentence as if it ended with a question mark. E.g. My name is Calvin(?), I live in L.A(?). 2. Short \i\'s are \e\'s. E.g. different = defferent, big = beg, chillin' = chellen' etc.

The first one is wrong, it's not a question-like intonation, you have to stress the last syllable just a little, when we make a question our intonation is different
