well explained, but I've seen 2 other versions for 2 players that i like more. don't live the dummy hand version.

You forgot to mention the risk of taking the bid is that if you don't get your bid in the end, then those are negative points against you. So you have to weigh the advantage of calling trump color against the risk of possibly getting negative points.

Hello Calvin. Great video. When removing the 1,2, and 3 cards doesn’t that leave 100 points? 4 14s, 4 10s, and 4 5s. You only accounted for 85 points. It would also be helpful if you explained more about the bidding process and what happens if you don’t score your bid. Thanks so much.

What happens for the nest? Do you count that because you got the last trick? What happens if you opponent makes the last trick and takes your nest? Do they count any counter cards if present?
@calvinsgotgame83654 жыл бұрын
Yes if you catch last trick you get the points, if your opponents catch the last trick they would count it in their score.

That’s how we always play. Whoever takes the last trick gets the nest. It’s risky if you don’t run your opponents out of trumps and you put a lot of points in the nest. I like to have at least 7 and the bird when playing with 4. We play an off game (To challenge our bid skills), add the bird, which makes 120 points a hand. Our nest goes to 4 cards. That way we can still “shoot the moon” in 2 player.

I just subscribed. Nice instructions. I just learned about this game so I bought a deck tonight. I have a few questions. If the dummy hand had points, would your wife add those points to her hand at the end? Or does the dummy hand points get thrown out? Also for a 3 player game would the 2 people that didn’t decide the trump add their points together at the end & get the total points or does everyone keep their own score each hand? That’s confusing to me. Thank you in advance
@calvinsgotgame83654 жыл бұрын
Who ever catches the points would get them. More than likely the person playing the dummy hand would play count on a trick they were going to take. Hope that helps.

Calvin's got game ok so the dummy points wouldn’t count towards the player discarding that hand. I was lost because in the instructions it said the player would compare their total points against the other player & dummy hand combined.
@calvinsgotgame83654 жыл бұрын
Also if you are talking about the 5 cards you set aside if there is count in that the person who caught the last trick gets the points in those 5 cards
@calvinsgotgame83654 жыл бұрын
If I bid 80 points and at the end of the game my wife caught 20 points and the Dummy hand caught 25 that would mean I only caught 75 points and I would go -80 points from my score, my wife would score 20 points and the points in the dummy hand would not be scored.

Calvin's got game thanks for that explanation. The instructions inside the game are confusing. So in every man for themself game people only account for their points that they scored. Got it. I have 2 daughters that I want to teach how to play. That’s why I asked. Thanks

Calvin's got game Thank you. Very helpful. I think I will use this info in trick taking and use it to play Rage before jumping into Rook. Have you tried Rage? I think Rage would make a good entry into learning Rook. Once I fully u derstand the trick taking/trump actions.
