Hi! I'd love to know what you think of this tutorial 💖 I'm trying to get a few simple tutorials done in the new video format so beginners have a solid starting point 🥰🥰 Until now, most of the foundation tutorials are out of date and too slow.

@frogeyandstuffthank you so much 💖 I wanted to make the channel self sufficient, so I sell the brushes and stuff, but you can always message me on Etsy if you can't afford the kit. I'm happy to offer whatever deal fits your situation, even sending the brushes as a gift 💖 I'll be away from the Etsy chat for a few hours, but I'll be back later. Thanks for your kind comment ☺️ I'm really glad you enjoyed the video

This is amazing! Thank you so much for your tutorials and watercolor brushes. I've been struggling for almost a year transitioning from traditional media to digital, plus all the self-doubts about my art. But finding your channel, and getting your brush pack, I'm finally feeling INSPIRED! THANK YOU

Awww wow! Thank you so much, you made my day 🥰🥰🥰 I often feel like everything I paint sucks, but when I chat with other artists it seems normal. What helps me is printing out my artwork and keeping a photo album of it. I looked through it often and realized how good some of my artwork looks after getting some time/distance from it. It helps to shift my expectations and realize that I might not like a painting simply because I've been working on it for hours and I'm just sick if looking at it 🤣🤣🤣

@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438 You're absolutely right. In my case, I don't have formal training, so even when I like a piece there's this voice saying "Are you sure? Maybe the composition is off, maybe the values, perspective, etc etc". So thank you for sharing and being so open, I will definitely apply these tips (and follow your tutorials of course) 🤗

I've watched tutorials on whip cream before and I've gotta say, yours was so freaking easy and simple to follow!! It's bonkers. I still can't believe my cupcake looks as good as it does and actually resembles whip cream. You always add in extra steps at the end that we can follow to add "oomph" to a piece, so I was little surprised you didn't show the process for the sprinkles. It appears simple and common sense enough but for people like me, I was like man! What brush did he use. 😂

Aww thank you so much 🥰 I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I have some technical constraints with recording and in this case my battery was about to die. I used the fineliner pen for the sprinkles :)

Love all of your tutorials. What do you think of Adobe Fresco and the Live Watercolor brushes?
@calvinatdrifterstudio84382 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much 🥰 Here's my personal creative perspective with Fresco: The live brushes in Adobe fresco are interesting but it doesn't solve the bigger problems of digital watercolor that I often run into. The styles and textures need to have a similar look, while at the same time you need enough control that you aren't relying on too much random brush behavior. For me, I feel more comfortable with a more fundamental technique because it's more flexible in the long run. That means I don't like brushes that have a lot of random or crazy effects - I'm more comfortable with consistent brushes that behave the same way each time. Another thing: I don't think the technology is here yet that will truly simulate watercolor pigment interaction, so active brushes feel a little gimmicky to me -- it's just my own feeling though, I know many artists do love that effect. I might really come to love them someday 😁

@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438 thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I've taken up traditional watercolor recently and I have to agree with you that Fresco's watercolor brushes have a ways to go. I stumbled upon your videos and was like "now that's what digital watercolor should perform like!" Thanks for the inspiring work. Love your paper textures too 😀

I love painting desserts. If I wanted to put this on a different colored background, how would I do that since there is some translucency to this illustration?
@majalindenau64902 жыл бұрын
Hello calvin. I'm a big fan of your videos. I also bought your watercolor brush set. the brushes are also really great. just one thing. when you paint, it really looks like you're painting on watercolor paper. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it for me. Unfortunately, the brushes don't have this background structure like paper. I paint on the paper what was in the set. What can i do to make im Look like Yours ? Lovely wishes
@calvinatdrifterstudio84382 жыл бұрын
Hi Maja! Thank you so much 🥰 It sounds like something isn't working right. You can message me on Etsy and send a screenshot of the layers panel when you try to paint - I can probably spot a clue about what's going wrong there. Usually it's something simple and I'm sure we can get it working :) The Etsy store has a contact/message seller thing and it actually opens up a live chat with me If I had to guess, it might be that you aren't painting below the paper texture. The paper texture group should be above your artwork because procreate layers effect stuff from the top down

Thank you so much for the tutorial ♥️ by the way, i'm still confused what is feather used for?
@calvinatdrifterstudio84382 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you so much 🥰 Usually the selection tool has a sharp edges. Feather will soften and blur the edge. You can try an experiment with feathering and not feathering. You will see the difference easily that way :)
