Probably the easiest gearbox to remove compared to FWD cars! whip it off mate and change the FW,PP,FP and bearing. then plug her into a decent OBD tool (not snap on) bosch KTS or better. keep us updated.

I went over to the UK to buy my ‘98 M3 back in 2003 the same year as this car. Currently 34k miles on my M3 and the interior smells like new, I don’t daily drive it and it’s in a Carcoon. I wouldn’t buy a car with that mileage anyway. I enjoyed the video cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪.

I genuinely think the engine start making a noise becuase you didnt check the dipstick correctly tbh Calvin, you started the car then pulled the stick out which looked like it only had a drop but you didnt wipe the stick completely dry and re check. Your rebuilding it anyway but when you checked it that's the 1st thing that come.to my mind tbh might be wrong but that's how I always have done it

I think that sound is your slave cylinder extending too far, and making the clutch release fork lever hit the back of the pressure plate .. it only happened when you pushed the clutch all the way to the floor right ? ;)

The Big End Bearings are very prone to heavy wear and need changing after so long !!! A VERY common fault on BMWs after a certain mileage !!!

Not a bargain if the crank is damaged due to spinning a shell either £5k+ rebuild if the crank can be ground or engine is shot, £1k for clutch & dual mass fly wheel, that’s your money gone. Nobody wants kiwi leather cos it’s awful. I reckon your be lucky to see your money back. Good luck with it though 🤙🏻

Slight oil leak, top up the oil..I’ve a TT..it’s got a slight oil leak, I just keep oil in boot and top up when it goes low...usually every 3 weeks.

When buying an E46 just check that the light isn't on and then use the dash cluster light test and make sure that the mileage tamper light is working properly so you can be somewhat sure it hasn't been clocked. Also check NCT/MOT historical mileage records. Having said all that, I'm sure there are ways to clock these cars without triggering the tamper light.
