He seems like a proper sound guy, wish him all the best in his business! We actually did the same thing a long time ago now, mine was also a cat c - we repair them. Kept it for a good 6/7 months and loved it, did a tour of European tracks in it. Cool cars, cost us about 6k all in to do but if you were to outsource you could easily spend 16-20 to do it.
