I think portraying it as “a life raft”is probably the wrong message to send to young people watching. If he didn’t steal the laptop, he probably would still have transferred and redshirted for a year at another D1 instead of having to go through Juco and still end up where he’s at, with the level of talent he had. If you stole the laptop, just admit to it and don’t try to change the narrative. It's a really hard to win a lawsuit like that when you're a public figure in the United States. Not impossible but extremely unlikely cuz you have to prove actual malice and for a show that has a warning at the front that a lot of the events are fictionalized gives them a cover legally. You can make a pretty strong case that the laws are not protective enough for the privacy of these people but that's why you see a lot of these libel or defamation type lawsuits take place in England instead of the US when possible
