Experts say an estimated 100 million tons of sand are extracted from Cambodia and Vietnam each year. The experts say the dredging occurs with little government oversight.

The government knows about all the dredging. A certain country to the north needs it for construction. Countries around the world are also victims of the country's hunger for resources.
