Cambodian Sun Dried Clams | Leas Hal លៀសហាល USA

A summer treat, this sun dried river clams also known as Khmer Oysters, is available for a limited time only in the month of June to Sept. here in Stockton, CA. It's not sold in supermarket so you need to really know who and where to get it from. It’s good eaten with day old rice and pair really well with a spicy and sour tamarind dipping sauce.

Could you quickly bake them if you wanted to eat them immediatley?

I am not sure as I have never tried. But I have heard people using the oven at a low temperature to cook them although it will not taste the same because the salt and sugar will melt and making them watery, not dry like in the sun.

I used to lived in Stockton and as a child, I used to catch them/fish em? But I moved to Boston, Massachusetts and they don’t have them here! I’m sad asf.

I heard the same from people who moved out of here to the east coast. They said they have to go get them from Carolina or when people sell them they are expensive. It is the beginning of leas season now and this stuff is getting expensive here too!
