I studied at Pembroke College many years ago and later on lived and worked there. My daughter was born there. I am pleased to say that it has not changed much judging by your video. Many thanks.

I used to work in Cambridge but never really explored the centre. I do remember trying to do the King Street run: a pint in every pub on King Street. It got very messy and we never completed it.

One of my faves, your best photography yet. You nailed the 'Cambridge vibe'.. to me, it's the feeling of literally walking through great history. Can't wait to be there soon, let's go punting together!!!

Go a bit further north to Ely. That has a Tower worth getting to the top of, but not me - scared of heights. but Ely is worth a visit.

If you go back, try and get a tour of the Colleges, or even try and see the college Chaples. Christopher Wren had a lot to do with them. Also, the Cambridge Folk Festival is worth a visit, as is the Strawberry Fair.

Wonderful suggestion - thank you Richard! Which Colleges are at the top of your list?

@@ACanadianAbroadMichelle It is difficult to single any individual college, but definitely Queens, Kings, Corpus Christi, Trinity, Trinity Hall, Jesus and Emmanuel Colleges.

Cambridge University has produced 121 Nobel Laureates. Must be all that cycling, on sit-up-and-beg bikes from the 1950s. Henry VI also founded Eton College.

You should definitely check out the Ashmolean Museum which is fantastic and in a beautiful building (also free), the book shops, also a very quick train hop to Ely to see one of the worlds great Cathedrals.

I have been to Cambridge, but it was many moons ago! I may have missed it, but did you go to the Great Court at Trinity? That’s the one featured in “Chariots of Fire” (one of my favorite ‘running’ films). It’s a true story and very inspirational, too. Punting on the River Cam is also part of a “missing” Tom Baker Dr Who episode! Need a rating of the beers - may have to add Cambridge to the places to go list for my Father/Sons trip to the UK this autumn 😊. ps Love the channel!
@citywise87732 жыл бұрын
In fact, Arthur the film ‘Chariots of Fire’ was not filmed at Great Court, Trinity. Trinity famously refused permission and what purports to be Trinity is in fact Eton College who did give permission

It would be a much nicer place without all the bikes whizzing past. Not really a medieval atmosphere anymore.
@ACanadianAbroadMichelle2 жыл бұрын
I did find that there are nods to Cambridge's medieval past to be found - I especially love the side streets! I certainly needed to keep my wits about me with all those cyclists!
