My Indian festive season this year was so special and wholesome despite being away from my family 💛 I really maxed out on the cultural events that were happening at Cambridge and even made 2 day trips to London to attend other events during the weekends. It’s so important to connect with and celebrate your cultural roots no matter how far away from home you are. And the warmth and love that fills you up from the inside when you do is an unparalleled feeling. Celebrating in large communities is an integral part of Indian festivities and I’m so beyond grateful that I got to do that this year after nearly 2 whole years of relatively quieter celebrations. No matter where you are in the world, and whether you got to celebrate Deepavali or not, I hope that you connected somehow to the Light inside of you. Sending you lots of love and positivity 💛🥰

Deepavali (or Diwali) is commonly known as the festival of lights. There are many legends associated with the celebration of Deepavali. The marriage of the Hindu goddess of wealth Lakshmi to Lord Vishnu, worship of Mother Kali as well as the return of Prince Rama of Ayodhya from his 14 year exile, vanquishing the 10 headed demon Ravana. Despite varying origins to the celebration of Deepavali, all these legends have one common theme- the triumph of good over evil. During Deepavali, lights decorate every corner of India, and the scent of incense sticks lingers in the air, mingled with the sounds of firecrackers and prayers. It is a common custom while lighting lamps to light one central lamp, from which the other lamps are lit. This is symbolic of the fact that to reach true happiness and divinity it is crucial to first light our own inner lamps, by which everything else will automatically illuminate. So this deepavali, let us all commit to bringing light into our lives by reflecting on our actions and making appropriate changes for the upcoming year.

Looks like a lot more big activities going on for you for Deepavali this year without lockdowns and closures, and you made the most of it! The clothes are so cool, and the dancing. I liked the routine from 11:19 especially. The food... in fact I literally might order one of those vegan sweet boxes myself because it looked so good. The cows... 🐄 😍 I am surrounded by horrible dairy farms and it's great to see those ones you visited looking like they are better cared for, a lucky few amongst a billion cows worldwide. Happy Deepavali, a word I learned from you having known it only as Diwali before. ✨

I’ve got to say out of all the videos you’ve posted so far this one has got to be my favourite. It was so lovely to see the rich Indian culture being showcased in the UK, and seeing everyone celebrating diwali with such enthusiasm was so nice to see. I am now prouder to call myself an Indian. I loved all of the dance performances, the classical and bollywood dances. I have learnt kathak for a couple of years and I jumped for joy when the beautiful kathak dancer came onto the stage. Your saris were looking really nice!! The food looked really good and I got hungry just by looking at it. And the cows! They all looked so cute. I loved to see them eat their carrots!!❤️ Song 1: Kaun Tujhe Song 2: Zoobi Doobi Song 3: Janam Janam Song 4: I didn’t know 😅 Song 5: I think i know his one but I can’t remember the name.
