Seems he totally ignores time it takes for mines to come in line and much build out of plants happening. India, uK, Japan reversal. S Korea reversal, Poland, finland etc etc etc. Nuclear will need to double to meet nation goals. Uranium abundant but not economically viable. He's too dismissive
@jonathandoss11012 жыл бұрын
I’m sure he’s a smart guy but he has a VERY surface level explanation for uranium s/d. no mention of supply chain issues, underfeeding, etc.
@k1m6252 жыл бұрын
yup agreed.....We have abundance fossil fuels but we are in a energy crisis.....its not about total supply....its about demand out pacing supply......and max flow of supply
@sanpedrosilver2 жыл бұрын
Indeed. There is no shortage of uranium but the fuel cycle has issues. Issues that will likely cause the price of yellowcake to increase beyond the current $50/lb level.

It took around 20 plus years to go from the Cigar discover to production and a similar timeline for McArthur. Both mines are reaching maturity. It will be interesting to see what will replace those assets in the Athabasca Basin.

He's correct - there is a lot of prospective uranium resources out there. He's vastly over-simplifying though when he says "when uranium hits $75/lb, all these junky projects will just turn on."

The fuel cycle from mined uranium ore to EUP is orders of magnitude more complex than that of copper to copper product. Ergo getting new uranium production online and in the hands of utilities takes years and the correct incentive price. If there isn't a shortage in uranium, there sure as hell isn't one in copper

Looking holistically at the video, Irwin uses the soundbite re Uranium no shortages etc to draw in the clickbait YT viewers (me too). Then gets on to pump his own investments and Jay just lets him. What is so cynical, is that folks like WI, if they have really made "a tonne of money" then why don't they ever develop a sense of "enough" rather than just needing "more" and stop trying to hurt retail.
@seanadamson2802 жыл бұрын
So the Uranium thesis is bullshit but buy Nexgen 😭. I get the impression he hasn't dug as deep on Uranium as he says Jay. Speaks too generally doesn't back up statements. Your guests are normally great Jay, brilliant channel, this chap not so much.

There is a difference between triple the price below the AISC and above. This example gold and uranium does not hold.

Total waste of time listening to Warren Irwin fail to provide even the most basic understanding of the supply/demand fundamentals. He invested in NexGen Energy based on drill results and has clearly never actually done any research on the underlying issues facing a sector that is only producing 130 Million lbs per year into a demand of 200 Million lbs per year that can only be rectified by far higher prices, which will lead to far higher share prices for producers, developers and explorers. So sad to see an intelligent guy make unfounded, poorly researched, flawed analysis that comes across as coming from someone who is a short seller hoping to move investors to become sellers.
@richyrich32852 жыл бұрын
What is he talking about Nexgen? That stock is up almost 800% since the March 2020 lows. He also fails to recognize the squeeze that will happen as demand soars and new supply lags. He also doesn't consider how inflation and energy prices have affected mining costs.

Warren leaves out lots of catalysts. As another commenter suggested, Warren is too dismissive. Just because there’s a lot of Uranium doesn’t take into account all the factors needed to get it into fuel rods.

Even if there is uranium under the sea. It will take decades for investment and technologies to get into it..

Don't need ANY new Uranium. Breeder reactors can use waste & transmute it to shorter lived less dangerous isotopes in the process. There's enough waste to keep breeders going for 200 years. Let future generations decide if they want any new Uranium reactors.
@daniel_salomao2 жыл бұрын
Active reactors, those under construction, and those planned still use fuel that requires fresh uranium. These reactors are designed to generate returns for decades and will not be shut down just because new technology comes along. And your demand must be met.

All the comments on uranium. Nothing on PNRL.V despite Irwin saying that he took a 3-4% stake before completing his due diligence. He is talking about 5-8 millions investment and wants to add more. Where do you find mines ? Near existing mines and in this case, between 2 mines.
