Question: Why do we need to write both an equation for the lorry and car when they're both equal. Cant we just do the calculation for the lorry and since the KE for the lorry is equal to the KE for car, the answer would be 32000 too? Can you please explain it to me if you don't mind.

The KE is the same but the mass of the two isn't. So even though you get the same KE to find the velocity/speed of the car you have to put the mass of the car into the formula instead of the lorry's, for an accurate value. Let me know if you understood if you didn't I can try phrasing it different

mate energy cant be created or destroyed.. this is a fundamental principle of life. what your referring to is change of energy. for example changing heat to electricity or vice versa.

okay so it says that the speed of the water as its in the *bottom* is 21m/s so to calculate it according to the bottom we need to use the formula of both energies the one we were given before and the one we have now. so when the water falls down it changes from gpe to ke so formula for gpe is mgh whereas for ke it's 1/2mv^2 so well now we know the gravity which is 10 and we also know the velocity 21m/s as stated in the question. ok so now we insert these two values we know and then the m (mass) cancels each other from both the formulas and then we're left with 10xh=1/2x21^2. so if we move 10 on the other side it'll go down to division leaving us with only a h(height) on the left so then we just workout the main answer which is 22.05 and lastly don't forget the units its 22.05m
