Hey! Not sure if you respond to comments on old videos but, could you please explain what is meant by “Explain phototropism and gravitropism of a shoot as examples of the chemical control of plant growth”? Just not quite sure what they mean by “chemical control”. Thanks in advance!

Chemical control would be talking about the impact of auxins on plant growth. Essentially all they are asking is for you to explain how phototropism and gravitropism/geotropism work in terms of auxins which have been covered in the video :)

But why should we place it horizontally for observing geotropism ?

Auxins are made from the shoot tip/root. The whole concept of tropism is that these auxins distribute *unequally* due to light or gravity. In geotropism the auxins accumulate on lower side of a horizontal shoot or root due to gravity. If the shoot/root was not placed sideways then there would be no accumulation of auxin, and the tropic response wouldnt occur :)
