Unfortunate reality of the street life. I grew up in the life and normalized all of that negative behavior that comes with it, and it wasn’t until I started to venture outside the neighborhood to non-gang areas that I really started to realize that everybody don’t live like that. Started to change my perspective on things and eventually, years later, I was fortunate enough to be able to move out the hood, into a non-gang area, and slowly stepped away. Some homies were mad, and some understood. It’s just life. When you become a man and have different priorities, things should mentally start to change for you. The bigger picture, I guess one could say. But, to each their own. I’m damn near 50 now, and I miss it sometimes, but things aren’t what they use to be. It is what it is though. Life goes on.
