You took Camco to task and showed they were responsible, that’s a plus.The solid mount’s a clean impression, and that you’ve already seen a worthy comparison between it and the buddy’s fuel needs sold me. I have two Wave 8s that I"ve used for about 20 years in my 34 foot Silver Streak. I do get condensation but it doesn't bother me, but I should use moisture absorbers ( see my other comment below). I didn't keep my covered enough and the catalytic surfaces suffered so keep your covered with the factory covers. Waves are the best heater around and last forever if you take care of them. Just choose the right size for your conditions. I would choose one Wave 8 and one Wave 3 for the bathroom. Two Wave 8s can cook you out even on low if it's not really cold (like 20s and below). If it's REALLY cold, teens and below. two wave 8s are necessary for a large RV. They are very economical on propane versus any other type heater.

One thing to consider, the Mr. Heater Buddy heater has several models, the model you show has 3 temp ranges, 4K, 9K, and 18K BTUs. The 4K should be just about right for a smallish travel trailer. The 18K I haven't figured out a good use for... Barbecuing maybe?
@FernbarkFrist6 жыл бұрын
I have been using this Wave3 for more than a year, and I still like it better than the Buddy Heater. It is quieter, less stinky, and better on fuel. To answer your question about 18k BTU, it is for if it is freezing when you walk in your camper and want to heat it up quick. Then you throttle down to the other settings. When it is 39F inside the camper, those 18K feel pretty good.

@FernbarkFrist7 жыл бұрын
Factory furnace uses lots of propane and really eats the batteries. The Mr. Buddy is awesome, but what I like about the Wave is that I can mount it flush to the wall and get it off the floor where it always seems to be in the way. I like the twin burners (18k BTU) on the Mr. Buddy because if it is cold, you can heat the place up in a jiff with it going full blast. If you decide on a Wave unit, you will want the Wave 8 with all the open space in your camper. I can close the front and back off in my unit, so I am only heating an 8x15 space, but it still takes a while to warm up with a max heat of 3000 BTU. Sometimes when I get home, I will run the factory furnace to jump the temp up (takes about 15 minutes), and then the Wave will maintain the warm temp.

@GOLDTRADERRR7 жыл бұрын
Fattie Definitely the Wave 3. It will last a very long time. Just keep it covered with their factory covers (extra cost) and buy the legs (also extra). Hook up to a hose with a regulator and pipe it into your on board propane bottle. I've had two Wave eights for almost 20 years, but I didn't keep them covered enough and replacing the platinum catalytic surface is almost the price of the unit and you HAVE TO send it to Camco for repair. You can't do it yourself because of liability. Surfaces cost $100 or more for my Wave 8s plus shipping to Camco. Any other heater is far less effective, more costly, and Mr Buddy will crap out too frequently and stinks. Buy quality and you won''t regret.

@GOLDTRADERRR7 жыл бұрын
Any propane heater creates moisture. Just have some moisture absorbers placed in several areas of your trailer. I get loads of moisture under my foam mattresses on my bed due to my breath. And on my windows. You can't escape moisture with moist heaters that don't vent to the outside. I have never vented my 34 foot 1976 Silver Streak trailer but it leaks air a lot and I've never had any CO problems even when I burned a kerosene heater. Just be sure you DO HAVE some fresh air vents open at either end of your rig. Forget Mr. Buddy. It's a crap device that will fail.

Disagree about wave 6 being better for your rig. Have one end hot and other end cool. 2 wave 3s one towards each end for more even heating and instead of just 2 setting and fuel consumptions ya gain a 3rd with 2 3s vs 1 6. Say wave 6 at low isn't warming enough but high is getting 2 warm entirely negating the evenly heating issue with 2 3s ya can set both on low, both on high or one on low with other on high so 3 settings basically. If I turn my buddy heater down too much it can set off my detector; you must keep the catalyst hot enough , and vent air

That is good info!

You don't have to hold the new ones down

That's nice. Wish mine was that way.

Which is why I got a diesel cab heater, instead.

If your gas detector is going you have a gas leak, carbon monoxide is different, not enough ventilation!!!

I f you spend a lot of time out in the cold. You might want to go with a diesel forced air heater. No propane and it exhaust outside. Might be a better option than these heaters here that you are using.

Do you need to have a diesel engine vehicle for that? Are there regular gasoline equivalents? Apologies for the uninformed questions

@@PapaJoeB no sir. You can get Chinese ones for around 150-200 dollars. They just use diesel fuel but are very a very dry heat and feels wonderful blowing on your feet. You will need a 12v dc power source. I have one on my truck and doesn’t faze the battery on crank up in morning. Hope this helps.
