I will never understand how this song wasn’t the biggest country hit of its year.

It's a great song, but this song is more old school country than the crap that country music has become. Had this song been released in 2000, it would have done way better for sure.

Cam said in an interview the scene where Diane and Cam meet was the first time Cam met the actress playing her, and that you can’t hear the dialogue but she’s saying “Did you know he was married?” and “Did he tell you he loved you?”. The part at the end where Diane buys her a drink is really powerful too. It shows Diane understood Cam got her heart broken too. Really emotional video I hope it wins some awards!

It's so interesting and refreshing to see a song from the "other woman's" point of view. We tend to villainize them when we find out a partner has cheated, even when the only real person to blame is the cheater himself. It's good to be reminded that most of the time they don't even know about the infidelity and mean no harm to us
@Justbeingme9714 жыл бұрын
I never once looked at cheaters from this point of view. This is definitely was eye opener

I love how positive this is. Usually the wife is angry with the mistress and not the husband and this song and video try to subvert our expectations.
@melissasaint3283 Жыл бұрын
It perfectly mirrors the nature of Jolene, where I stead of tearing the other woman down, she is complimenting her and pleading instead of threatening. Here the other woman had no idea, and would rather face the anger of a wronged wife then let her go on being cheated-- because you know this dude is going to do it again! In both songs, the narrator is building up the other woman and pleading to be heard.

This is such a compelling story! I really like that no-one is "evil" but rather all four characters are shown as doing right and loving each other. I love the scene switches between relationships, there's always affection, but there's a fascinating discord granted by the changing perspective and bent expectations.

This is a great song, musically, some amazing dubs as well, to add depth to the music and vocals in Chorus... love it... also lovely twist with the drink at the end...

I found out about Cam from Grady Smith, who had a video naming "Diane" one of his favorite Country songs. Now, "Diane" is one of mine.
