First up, I take back what I said. Gaff would be less used than Camera Tape. Secondly, the sun kept changing and oh man was this video kind of annoying to try fix. I tried my best, despite my computer system protesting, and learnt new things about colour correction in the process. My lights will be back in about a weeks time so that will be great! Also getting a new light so that will be fun :) Link of the week - Clothing The Gap (not affiliated) You can check out Clothing The Gap here: www.clothingthegap.com.au/

I tried making a video with just ambient sunlight indoors once and realized the same thing 😂. Harder to keep a consistent look throughout the video than I anticipated. I mainly shoot stills so the experience opened my eyes about shooting a movie like 1917, for example. No wonder half the interviews were talking about waiting for cloud cover.

So cute hey!! It's actually also is practical which is fun. Good for mobile phone filmmaking because of its size relative to the field of view. And the clap is almost as good as a full size!

Missed opportunity to mention adhesive remover solutions so that the people who inevitably put them on something in the Australian summer or on camera body can remove the residue when it goes all gooey. Recommend 'Zoff' as its also not going to destroy your skin if you dont have gloves. Becausr nobody enjoys sticky gear.

Zoff? I'll have to look into that one. I've done that a few times. Have a little on my dash from a GoPro and a 4hr drive 😬

One of my first days on an actual set and I put gaffer tape markers on the floor and when I took it off I nearly took half the floor with it 😭😂 also I’d love to hear your experience as a filmmaker in Australia / what it’s like filming in harsh conditions / general work etc

People can't use their own FLAG without paying some company?? I'll have to look into that to find out how it could make any sense at all... I think it's a good idea for you to include these other interesting topics at the end, or as an intermission in your filmmaking videos.
@CertainExposures4 жыл бұрын
Your point about gaffer’s tape being risky on painted walls is so true. Ask me how I know. 🤦🏿♂️ I’m not an AC but I keep strips of photographer’s masking tape rolled around my tripod for some of the reasons you mentioned. I also use it to help lightproof my home darkroom (aka the bathroom). Oh and using your platform seems great to me. I had no idea about the flag issue since I’m US based. I did some quick digging into the issue at hoo-boy. It seems like a bed of worms. Would you say that the general feeling is that Thomas betrayed the community by signing that exclusive license with WAM? Especially since WAM is pursuing retroactive fines and shares connections with the prior company that averted government fines for selling fake indigenous art. On one hand, I recognize the right of an artist to catch that coin (I mean, imagine your work being massively popular but never getting fair compensation for it). On the other, I can understand the frustration from charities, hospitals, sports, locals, etc for a national symbol being taxed by a private corp.
@flickcine4 жыл бұрын
It's a huge mess hey! As I'm not indigenous, I can't really comment too much on it as it's not my place to say. But I support the belief that a very distinct representation of culture should ultimately belong to the people rather than a business. Thomas certainly had the right to sell and I'm also for people making coin, but equally so, people have the right be feel betrayed by that decision. Personally, despite not being Aboriginal I honestly feel more connected to the Aboriginal flag than the Australian flag. I feel it more accurately represents the land and respects it's people.

As in you have an idea and script already and you are unsure how to shoot it? Not sure how much I can help you there but I would recommend finding films that inspired the idea and look at how they were framed and lit. That will give you a good style to try follow.
