Here is a side by side comparison of the psychopaths shown off in the trailer for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster! I am looking forward to this game and cannot wait to see what the rest look like since these all look amazing!

The original Cliff design felt more violent and scarier to me because of how he resembles a puppet-like look similar to the kids on the ride where you have to fight Adam the Clown

I miss his blank emotionless face in the original cutscene. Made him feel creepy and determined while in his PTSD episode. But maybe that new furious face will grow on us

Same thing with Larry he was intimidating but in this one, he looks like a joke

The new models look way more expressive. They did look like clay potatoes. Steven looks a lot more deranged in the new version.

When I watched the trailer the first time, I didn't even recognize Larry. I remember thinking "wow, am I forgetting about an optional psychopath or is this new content? 🤔" Larry did not even cross my mind.

@@mr.awesome6011 yeah. Pretty transparently so. In all honesty, it doesn't super bother me, even if it feels unnecessary. I just hope they make him more creepy looking, he looks a bit too clean.

Apart of Frank's new appearance, I also don't like the complete redesign of Larry the butcher psychopath. Looking more like a big and fat version of Carl the mailman psychopath from Dead Rising 2. I have a feeling that Capcom did this as a way of "censorship", because of a suppose racial stereotypes about Asia on the original design of Larry, but that is just my guess.

That's probably why Larry's design was remade to avoid backlash and the original was made in the mid 2000s during a different time period

Changed it because of China. Yakuza 0 did the same thing with a Chinese character. Sucks but not a dealbreaker for me

While I don't doubt it was for censorship reasons I do think it adds a little bit of dramatic irony to the story as well to make the butcher white. I don't really know how to explain it that well though

Larry is the only downgrade, everyone else looks pretty sp00ky. Hopefully his intro will look even more unhinged when he pulls up Carlito.

I don't know why people are upset over Frank redesign, yeah he looks a bit aged up, but still looks great. The only downside is his new voice.

Well, part of the aging is the stress he goes through of becoming a celebrity and putting in a ton of work to afford the Zombrex he needs to stave of the infection. And then you factor in the medicine and its side effects. In DR2, Stacy Forsythe talks about how the medicine became too much for her sister and she ended up just letting herself turn. With these points in mind, it doesn't make sense for Frank to look older in the first game. He was middle age but didn't look that old and still had a youthful spry in his step. It's one of the things that helped sell his character and made him a Capcom icon. And yeah replacing TJ Rotolo was a bad call.
