Years ago, when I first got into photography, my portrait set up was a Vivitar 283 bounced into a silver umbrella. Got some amazing portraits with this simple set up. As time went by opened a commercial studio with all the bells and whistles. Moral of the story it’s having whatever equipment you can afford and making it work.

Beautiful breakdown Josh. A nice reminder that gear does matter but story is more important in the long run. Loved the microphones. The Rode Lavs is nothing but convenient. But Its nice to see your full lense layout as well. Now I wonder how the Canon adapter is compared to the viltrox adapter.

Great video. One thing you didn’t mention was a computer for editing. That’s something next on my list. What would you recommend? I do mostly stills.

I edit on an Asus Laptop with an Intel Core i7-10750H, 40GB RAM, and an RTX 2060 GPU. I prefer Windows machines, but I've spent hundreds of hours editing on Apple computers and once you're in the programs it really doesn't matter. Ideally, anything with an Intel Core i7 processor (or M1 processor for Apple) or better, 16gb RAM, and a dedicated graphics card will work great. I don't have any specific models off the top of my head.

thanks for the video... just bought a boom for my mic and it never occurred to me that I could get a counterweight for it... 😂

That's awesome! Yeah, depending on the boom/stand sometimes you can even mount a camera on the end for overhead shots (make sure it's rated for that though)! Even just a small counterweight will help reduce the stress on the joints if it's perfectly balanced too.

Can some explain this to me that how this video of a 21K subscribers account with excellent production quality and great information only has 575 views? It should have many more for really good quality and excellent presentation.
