also something to think about... seamless backdrop which is a big roll of white paper, i get it at henrys and its 40 bucks and its a ton of paper and you can just cut off a strip if it gets dirty or whatever, wouldnt have to deal with wrinkles.. just an idea ;)

My experiences with DSLR cameras for artwork; Pros - It's good when you do large paintings on canvas or something that cant really fit into a scanning bed. - Awesome for larger sized images. Con - You have to make sure that you have even, natural lighting when taking pictures. - There can be issues with "warping", so you need to make sure you're standing over/infront of your artwork in an even spot (this probably doesn't make sense, but it will haha) - Still need to tweak images quite a bit in photoshop. But it would be really exciting that you could use yours for video as well! When I bought mine a couple of years ago, I wasn't doing videos and got a cheaper version that wasn't video capable and spent more money on the lens.

I have the Amazon Basics 60 inch tripod and it doesn't have an arm that sticks out, but it is very sturdy for my dslr and can point straight downwards.

make sure you get the correct memory cards, if im not mistaken the 7d wont take the SD cards, they take another type the bigger kind... and make sure u get a really fast card so that it can save your 1080p videos, i made the mistake of using a standard card and the camera will shut off during the recording because the card wont save fast enough :d just a couple tips from a photog

+Charmed By Ashley It's a 70D, which does take the memory cards I already have. Mine are class 10 cards and should theoretically work, but I still decided to buy a better one just in case.

mine is Scandisk ExtremePlus 80mb/s i use this to make my youtube videos, and shoot in RAW format on Manual to get the best photos as possible and as other peoples said even if you take your art outside on a nice overcast day to get even lighting to take your photos

You should pin the sheet to the wall so you get a one tone draped background and it will hide the light switch and where the wall meets the table top. If you sew 2 loops to the bottom edge of the sheet you can also then hook those loops on the pins and keep the inside clean and free of cat hair.

Hello, Baylee. I am SO excited for your new youtube channel. I subscribed to you as soon as you mentioned it. :) When I saw Midna in that little basket type thing, I thought it was I was going to die! ! Iwould love it if I had little kittens cuddling up to me. You are very fortunate to have the most adorable kittens the world would ever have. I cannot get enough of the kitten footage. Those critter toys are very cute. I have some and I wanted to send them to you. Perfect job on the buttons you showed the other day on Instagram. I think the kawaii faces and the art on the buttons are extremely adorable and amazing. I love the new label that you did. I was wondering what the brand of yellow scissors you have. They seem to be very good! My scissors are kind of bad and cut jagged lines. I was wondering what of glossy plastic paper you put on top of the drawing that is on top of the tin button to protect the drawing? Your buttons just seem so cute i could not resist it. Last question: Can you please give a link to where you bought your massive desk? Your desk seems spacious and big that I need to have it. It looks very wide too. My desk is extremely small so it is hard to fit art supplies that are everywhere. I would really appreciate it and love it if you answered. i would be overjoyed

+Artsy Alyssa Creations I don't know what brand the scissors are, but they say "Titanium Coated" on them. I got them as a Christmas gift from Christian's grandma, and they're great scissors! The plastic on my buttons comes with the button parts, so you will automatically receive it when you buy button parts, and it's called mylar. My hubby bought me a boom, from Manfrotto, it will accept the heavier SLR's, and then you don't have to work with the tripod right in your lap. Would suggest you get a professional tripod, my hubbies was around $100. He was a professional nature photographer, so I don't know where he got anything. (he passed away 7 months ago). You should probably get it from Canada anyway. If you would like to see my setup, I'll film a video. :-) Love watching your videos! You are very inspiring with your setting up your own art business. I think DSLR Cameras are very convenient because you can do so many things with them! ^^ Here are some suggestions: Filming videos! Alot of beauty gurus get portrait lenses so their face is in focus and the rest is blurry. Nice effect. Photography! (obvi) I think its okay to get a cheaper model (mine was about 380 euros and thats a bargain because it came with the standart lens and a lens that zooms very close for insect pics and stuff) and then spend more on lenses (well lenses are always expensive but I think you get the idea) I hope this was helpful!

Be aware, fancy DSLR cameras usually;y only record ten minutes at a time. And that's one of the issues I'm running into with my Nikon D3100. If you find one that can go for longer do it. Because Camera's are a better investment all around.

+Artistic Alpaca My current camera only records for 14 minutes anyway, so I'm used to it. According to the internet, the 70D will record for 30 minutes, and if it reaches 4GB in file size before that, it will create a second file without stopping the recording.

In my experiences taking a picture of drawings- they never turns out right. Comparing them to scanned, the scan always looks truer to the art and the picture just seems... off. I don't know how to really put it into words. It's strange and warped(?) looking... like the proportions and everything are all wonky. Could just be me though.

+MissKpopJunkie it's funny you said that, i took picture of my art before and i always prefered the colors on the pictures than the one on the scanner. the scanner projects way too much light and it kills contrast, specially on artworks done with copic marker or watercolors. a good camera is better than a good scanner so i think a great camera will be better than a great scanner too. but it's not just about that, it's about the price. Your heard Baylee, it's like half the cost and she'll make videos with it too so it's a win win !

Sakuems I agree a camera would cover so much more. Videos and everything! As far as copics and color lighting, I can't speak to that. I've never used copic or had a problem with the colors (With a camera). It can just be really hard to get the set up perfectly to get the proportions to look the same and it not look wonky. But like I said that is just my experience. And could be totally different with copic work! I work with just pencils and some inking. I hope she gets the camera because it can go with a lit more things and help so much. I just had to share my side- that it isn't just an easy point and shoot with a DSLR.

MissKpopJunkie it makes sense yes, now i personally scan my work and i have to spend at least an hour editing it. But for larger pieces, it's even longer, it's a puzzle. If i had money for a better set up, i won't buy a large scanner, i think a great set up to take pictures with proper light is the best option.
