I see a huge iQ difference between the 300 f4, Leica 100-400 and OLY 75-300, especially for photos. For video the biggest problem is in the stabilization and in the Camera used in conjunction with the lens (OLY+OLY or Pana+ Pana). But the discussion about M43 being dead as a system ends precisely with the use of super tele lenses. A Smartphone is not capable of photographing Wildlife using super teles. The same applies to Macro. Anyone who likes to photograph wildlife and macro, but enjoys hiking, climbing and adventure, where photography is an important part of the adventure, but not necessarily the end goal, the M43 system is perfect and lets you choose lenses like this formidable 75-300 (there could be a weather sealed version). Those who, still in the M43 universe, want to make professional level images can also use alternatives like the 200 f2.8, 300f4 and 150-400f4.5! Long live the M43 system! I have no intention or interest in carrying bazookas through the forests or on my climbs!! For my professional work Real Estate, Food and small web videos, the M43 is also perfect! Cheaper, robust, capable, weather sealed…. Of course other photographers will find on FF or MF the best equipment, more suitable for the job they do. Comparisons are pointless. Different tools for different purposes!

I've always said that 75-300 is decent. I got mine for about 100 dollars- it even came with mushrooms growing inside, an added bonus, but it still looks great. Don't really care about shooting wildlife that has already been 1000s of times. Still, I'd (and did) take the 75-300 traveling anywhere... not those other lenses you mentioned, include the Panasonic 100-300 which is still heavier and lacks 25mm on the wide end (which can be a big deal).

The 200/2.8 prime (incl. 1.4 converter) is now cheaper than its 50-200/2.8-4 brother (without converter), here in Germany. From originally €3,000, the price is now €1,500. After the production stop, the stocks must apparently now be emptied. Will there be a successor? Or is a fixed telephoto focal length simply no longer selling because everyone prefers zooms? In fact, the zoom is not that much worse now and then it essentially remains with the one stop that the prime is faster. It would be interesting to see whether there are perhaps somewhat greater differences on the G9ii or GH7 with the slightly higher resolution but especially with the new autofocus.

Great video. I have the 50-200 and 1.4 tele. I must admit, it is great for travelling. Throw that setup in a sling bag, along with the Leica 9mm. Hard to beat that setup. Thanks for this video @Cameraconspiracies That GH6 was on my mind to research a bit more, when I first saw some of the reviews that gave it some real praise, as was the XH2 when I learned of it's 40mp sensor that I suspect would be amazing for macro work. I don't earn enough from my costly obsession with image production to warent or support the purchase of the kind of equipment that I am certain I need when I hear about new specs, but I thoroughly enjoy your hands on reviews and getting to live vicariously through you on these journeys. I wish you would do a knew show, where you reviewer what your viewers shoot with. I would love to hear a review on the 5DIV and the 7DmkII. I can make reasonable use of both cameras for photography but do not get much video out of either, I would be interested to see what you use for settings if you had to and which of the 2 you would use. Niether have IS in body so it would be all lens, or on a tripod. It's was just an idea, not something I would hold you too, I can imagine what a nuisance it would be to consider shooting with a camera some refused to consider when it came out 6 years ago (5D4) because it was already 2 years outdated on it's release date. You can tell those who bought them new many of them have terrible scars from being smacked in the face with that Cannon cripple hammer the day they opened the box to their brand new 5D4. It does have some stellar 120 fps though at 720p 🤔 ( No AF No IS )

Olympus 75-300 is nice telephoto. Just the strange thing is how big it is. I also have Pentax 55-300/4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR which is APS-C lens, a bit faster and yet it is significantly smaller while it has more range and covers larger sensor. Both have build-in motor. And when I attach that Pentax lens on my EPL-6 it has very good image too, just the AF is obviously not there, so I bought the 75-300.. good for birds. And almost requires EVF for aiming. Through LCD it is significantly less usable on things like planes or birds.

In my experience, the Panasonic 100-300 is very slightly worse then Olympus as it suffers at 5.6, but may be the slightly higher light gathering is better for someone. Overall the Olympus is cheaper, lighter and very slightly sharper, but with these budget lenses you never know ho bad or good each sample are. You should borrow the 100-400 from your Panny friend and do a side by side comparison with the 50-200. With lenses like this (don't forget the Olympus 300mm f4 PRO, Panasonic Leica 100-400, Olympus 100-400, Olympus 150-400, and the Panasonic 100-300), it's not about the sharpness. It's about the aperture. Being able to shoot at f2.8 or f4 on a long lens like that is a big advantage because you're probably using fast shutter speeds for stills, so every bit of light matters. On Micro Four Thirds, the noise comes early, so keeping your ISO down is critical. I speak from direct experience. My personal choice is the Olympus 40-150mm f2.8 PRO with the MC-20 2x teleconverter. I am saving up for the 300mm f4 PRO. I owned the Olympus 75-300 for a while, and it was mostly fine. The one problem I did encounter was purple fringing in certain situations. But, if you're just starting out shooting wildlife, it's a great value. I only sold mine because I already had the 40-150, and the MC-20 teleconverter rendered the 75-300 redundant.

IMO it is not proper linguistics to call lenses “budget” when you mean to say “ATTENTION rich people with money and no talent, yet.” $600 USD is a lot of money here in warm sunny Florida USA. I would appreciate a video of you shopping at pawnshops for surprise glass the homeless could afford. FYI. I made my own macro lens out of the bottom of a broken beer bottle today. The Tonah is pleasing but the focus is lacking. Will post photos later and the lens is for sale too. MYBO.

That Leica is really special and outshines the other lenses. But its way out of my price range. I’ll go with the panny 100-300mm since its a little brighter than the oly.

They probably film each other in 480fps.

Time for you to buy a Ghillie suit and some camo face paint. You'll eliminate those twigs, get the shots you want. and it *could* keep you warmer. Now that talking head part..... maybe walking into town with all of that on..... oh yes - that would drive your sub count over 500k in record time. Aannnd I think you could appease the frightened vegans and convince them you aren't the legendary Toronto bog monster - but rather a squirrel cinematographter/whisperer...

Your testing is flawed if your comparing different ISO values. Use your shutter.

The A7SIII will pulverize the GH6, but it will still be a fun comparison.

The GH6 will have several advantages. You might be surprised. If the GH6 has decent lighting it will hang

Micro 4/3 already has a better wild life lens, just stop lying to your self and get the Olympus 150-400 4.5 pro.
