Wanna unleash it? Here’s a simple 3 step starter program. 1. EQUAL LENGTH HEADERS. Who cares about the rumble, it’ll run way better and cooler, make more power, spool faster, get better mpg’s. And sound like a REAL WRC Subaru. 2. Aftermarket oil cooler and air/oil separator. That is a must, EJ’s get warm, especially one of the engine sides due to the UEL headers not allowing exhaust gases to expel as fast as the other. Take it from someone who has suffered ringland failure on why those mods are both a must. 3. Quality pro-tune. Obviously a dyno tune is best. Data logging through a Cobb apv3 also works well. A Cobb OTS tune can’t match what a pro tuner can do. Btw I went from 2 subies to a Speed6 and haven’t looked back
@sleeper.simulant73276 жыл бұрын
Outdoor Layne unless you have owned either you can’t speak on whether ones junk or not. I have owned both, and the Speed6 has no problems, with subarus I got to experience headgaskets on both and ringland failure on one BOTH at under 100k miles. For a daily the Speed6 is a superior car. More comfortable, faster stock, faster on mods, more reliable, etc. Damond Motorsports Speed6 ran a 11.7 on bolt ons stock turbo lol.
@sleeper.simulant73276 жыл бұрын
Outdoor Layne again, you haven’t owned either, YOU CANT TALK. Mazda’s have NEVER suffered from headgasket failure, your making that up, I’ve been on the forums, both Mazda speed and NASIOC for years, and the speeds have never been brought up with headgasket issues, where subarus have. My 08 Impreza had more rust then my 07 Speed6, I live in New England/northern New York my entire life where salt is spread all over the roads. Japanese cars in general don’t hold up like Germans in the rough weather areas. Tranny’s are glass in both cars lol, subarus eat shifter bearings constantly. The Speed6 is a superior daily to ANY EJ powered Subaru simply due to the fact that the engine is a maintenance hog that require lots of attention. The WRX with the fa20 is a far better car, it makes more power on bolt ons then a STi will, and it won’t eat oil like a EJ lol.
@sleeper.simulant73276 жыл бұрын
Outdoor Layne yeah, I’m sure you own a s4 and a golf r. The way you talk shows you know very little about cars since you have no experience with either. EJ’s are NOTORIOUS for burning oil. I’ve owned 2, my ej255 swapped gf8 I had years ago burned loads of oil, normally around 2 quarts every 3k miles, ringland failure, and was leaking headgaskets at under 100k miles on the motor, that’s reliable alright. And before I got my 2016 Tiguan, my 08 that also ate about 2 quarts every 3k miles, which the dealer told me was “normal” lol. Before my Tiguan I looked at a 2014 WRX, 17k miles and already been rebuild, ringland failure lol. They eat oil, it is a known fact. EJ’s have always been notorious for burning oil. The insults your throwing simply proves your defensive and find my points valid and cannot come up with a truthful logical defense because you have not owned one and cannot testify to the fact that they are a vehicle that requires a lot of maintenance and constant monitoring.

i owned 2 speed and the speed 6 was the worst speed i have. But i loved the speed 3.
@sleeper.simulant73276 жыл бұрын
James Ortiz how did I lose that argument? I brought up valid points from personal experience, and I’m not the only one who’s had those struggles. And your comment towards mine is completely baseless and lacks any logic, your just a butthurt fanboy who dreams of owning one someday. Read my original comment. Don’t think those are valid points either? Go ask ANY reputable Subaru tuner, they will mention the exact mods to be done. EJ powered Subarus are maintenance hogs, plain and simple. They require lots of attention and monitoring. And FYI, I can afford a STi, my wife’s optioned out Tiguan cost more then a STi lol, but due to having a family a CUV was more practical and the VW’s solid feeling beats out any Subaru IMO..... my Speed6 I got for a very good deal with only 74k miles, I drive it to work and back every day. It’s a daily, not a project or a race car. WRX’s and STi’s are a dime a dozen, I was looking at some again but I can’t pass up a good deal on a comparable car that has a better interior and more room...

if you want to save gas, drive to save gas. If you want to save gas get a Type R, if you want superior awd system get an STi. Two different cars though. I can get about 24-28mpg (us mpg) driving an STi, but that's super conservatively .i.e. (down hill neutral and cruise often). When you start flooring it everywhere, thats the biggest difference.
@Ooo0oOo0oO6 жыл бұрын

I sold my 2015 WRX with the FA-20, bought the 2018 STI and I couldn't feel happier for my decision. The rumble, the whole feeling while driving the car. I suggest that you check on the Tesla if you like the FA-20 better. Fuel efficiency, acceleration numbers are amazing, but if what you are looking for is a sporty rewarding driving experience. Just listen to the Subi rumble fand even without considering the three great diffs, the hydraulic steering, the six-piston Brembo brakes, the linearity in the power delivery of the engine and its refinement, etc.

I have a new FA24 2023 WRX 6speed Sport Tec and have absolutely no plans to modify my weekend toy other than a light tint. The factory "tunning" is good, bordering on perfect with flat linear power, completely lacking the peaks and valleys of the older 2.0T DIT last generation model. It's just flat, tossable and very linear all through the power band. Personally speaking, I truly believe the key to owning a reliable and long-term ownership WRX is good maintenance and keeping the mechanical modifications to a minimum on top of this vehicle not being my "commuter" car. That title goes to a much loved 2020 Accord 2.0T Sport.

just Curious you still have this STI .......I've heard that one shouldn't buy a 2015 STI is that something true?
@cctrans294 жыл бұрын
It better be. Because if it has mods and it breaks some of these dealerships won't honor the warranty. I just put a cat back on and left it at that. Still blew an exhaust pressure valve and my computer. But the dealership repaired it.

With just the COBB accessport stage 2 and a downpipe this car comes alive.

I just purchased one in Phoenix. Was only able to drive for one day and had to go out of town for a week. Can't wait to get back to Phoenix to drive it more. Soooo fun!! Thanks for the vid. I am Zonie myself.

2004 STI, Bone stock, always fun to drive. Could do without the smell of fuel on cold mornings though when starting.

Oh my god yes. I live in New England where it’s below freezing in the winter and snows, and prior to my 04 sti, I had a 02 and 04 wrx, and every winter cold start they just smelled like raw fuel, not even just exhaust fumes. I have yet to own my 04 sti through winter yet, so we’ll see if it smells like gas too

As long as you don't expect it to blow you away on 5-60 pulls and 1/4 mile times you will have fun. Get a Mustang GT if you want the straight line numbers. This car is made for the mountain roads and the autocross. It will hang with cars twice its price. It will require you to work a little bit as the power band is weak below 3.5k, as long as you keep it over that it is a rocket in the twisty mountain roads

You completely lost me when you said that in cruise control, if you put it in sport mode, it revs higher, but stays the same speed.....how sway?......HOW? Its a manual car lol
@Mr_N0_0ne6 жыл бұрын
Aaron Brooks it is true the sport mode increases rpm it makes it more responsive my buddy owns 2016 sti
@AaronBrooks03216 жыл бұрын
lol more responsive yes.....it cant increase the rpms.....in an auto car it does this y allowing you to rev higher before changing gears. if youre going 55 in a manual in 5th gear at 3500 rpm...switching it to sport mode literally cant do anything to the rpms...its impossible
@Mr_N0_0ne6 жыл бұрын
Aaron Brooks well it does cause I have seen it
@jeremiahgoodwin34086 жыл бұрын
Aaron Brooks that's the stupidest reasoning I've ever heard
@AaronBrooks03216 жыл бұрын
-____- do you guys understand how cars work....sport mode in automatics increases revs before shift points....in manual car, RPMs aren't variable. Sure sport mode can make your throttle more responsive but it CANT MAKE YOUR RPMS GO HIGHER.....you all must not have ever driven a manual

@emartinezr6 жыл бұрын
Brett McMillen That's because the WRX has a ton of rev-hang. The STI does not.

Emilio Martinez haha you think a wrx has lots of rev hang? Try driving a stock Impreza. Literally Have to wait a whole second or two before releasing the clutch or it will lurch
