This video made me realize that my left hand has been “chopping” as you put it, not going straight up and down. I nearly cut off the tip of my middle finger on my left hand last year using a table saw at work and I think that is why my grip was all funky. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I didn’t realize how involved our fingers are when we are doing rudiments. So cool! ❤

It's amazing how small adjustments can make such a big difference in your technique!

Keeping the volume level consistent for the second stroke in a diddle, and not rushing the space between an accent and the following diddle in an accent-diddle (like in the triplet rolls) really helps clean your sticking up and develop some speed at the same time.

The exercise i found to finally work my left had was just playing a single stroke roll and playing accents on my left hand, you can stay right hand lead and the acents will be off beats. you can make them every 8 th then 4th then 2nd as a more complicated version. rlrlrlrL rlrLrlrL rLrLrLrL. or rLrlrLrl repeat.

What I do sometimes to strengthen my weak hand is I lead with that hand at times, so instead of using my right hand to play the hihats I lead with my left, it does help a bit to make my left hand stronger! And also here and there whenever I can I try to lead with my left! Btw great video man! This is definitely gonna help me!🤘🏼
