Many smartphone have jack 3.5'' with 4 pins: mic, gnd, r audio and l audio. With jack with only 3 pins make a short between mic and gnd. Is it ok or can broken my phone?
@comedyclub3332 жыл бұрын
A bit late i guess, but still: Shorting mic to ground is no problem. As GND is the reference signal and the microphone is set to GND no potential difference occurs (this basically means no audio signal). Remember: Your phone will not force the mic pin to a specific voltage as it is an input pin, not an output.

@camerongray15154 жыл бұрын
In theory it will work on any device you can connect 3.5mm headphones to as it just works using an audio signal. That said, it uses the audio signal to power the LEDs so it really comes down to luck as to how powerful your phone's audio output is, some are better than others. For example, in this case, it worked but only over a really short range.

One flashes on the positive half of the audio waveform, the other on the negative, so you get two flashes per cycle. This way, you can get 38 KHz pulses out of an audio signal that's band limited to 20 KHz. Pretty clever!

In theory as long as the TV uses an IR remote and the IRPlus Wave app has codes for the device available. Only risk is that as the output of this is pretty weak, you may have issues if the TV's sensor isn't particularly sensitive. It's worked on every TV I've used it with, however I've often had to hold it up right against the sensor.

@camerongray15155 жыл бұрын
Cameras have IR filters which block most IR light. Some are better than others which is why you can sometimes see a faint glow from IR LEDs on cheaper cameras/smartphones. The camera I'm using here is pretty high end and has filters this will block out practically all of the IR light. Night vision CCTV cameras have switchable IR filters so they have a filter in place during the day to block IR then can move the filter out of the optical path at night so that light from the IR illumination can pass through.

do you need wifi to do this?
@nickrr36266 жыл бұрын
No it uses infrared which is a light ray the human eye can't see. The bulb emits infrared light rays in pulses/bursts and the TV has a receiver which recieves the rays and demodulates them. This is a technology that most remotes use, the problem is you can't use it from anywhere and the remote has to be pointed at the TV for the light rays to be received. This is why we're starting to use Bluetooth or wifi so the remote works from anywhere. However IR is pretty simple and easy to work with which is why it's still around.

Assuming the wiring is correct, make sure the volume is up full on the phone and you're holding it up against the sensor on the receiving device (also try controlling different devices with different remotes in the app). It also may simply be the case that the LEDs you're using requires more current to operate than your phone can provide.
