Our brothers in America have been lied to that Africans hate them. This is our long lost son come home. And my people have never disappoint me; look at the warmth and princely welcome. I am a Tikar from the tribe of Bafut, we ran from wars and captivity and hid ourselves in the savanna-Northwest province of Cameroon. Welcome home brother!

I am glad you said this cause I was looking at an interview with an American who found her Cameroon dna. She was being interviewed by a native Cameroonian. It wasn't so welcoming as my Nigerian, Senegalian and Ghanian people's. I just found out I have more Cameroon dna though. Which I want to get to know them.

It's great to see my African American brothers and sisters tracing their roots. Shout to the new Cameroonian Americans. Finally you have place you call home. Enjoy the new discovery and learn more about the culture to be installed in the new generation. I wish and encourage African Americans to go to Africa and see things are like so that the walls of ignorance can fall. Congrats bro and welcome home ( I'm Nigerian).

Their food. The language everything about my people. If possible I will also take a righteous name of my Tikar people and denounce my European Descent name as well. Presently I am researching as much as possible on line watching videos reading researching as much as possible to become acquainted with as many as the customs as possible out of RESPECT as NEVER to offend or DISRESPECT my PEOPLE in ANY WAY. We are tge builders of ALL the pyramids farmers originators of iron with many other artistic and scientific gifts and abilities. I am on a fixed income but I am attempting to save money for the proper Visa Passport and roundtrip Air Fare. If there is a possibility of being able to communicate with the Tikar tribe of the Cameroon Nation I would be so humbly GRATEFUL. Thank You Peace Love & Light I a

Peace brother...Is there any information about the Tikar people? It appears to be limited via internet
@Ethereally_present
@Ethereally_present 9 жыл бұрын
+stymie662 Hi, Just a Bamoun passing by, to answer your questions or concerns, Religion isn't a defying factor in the Bamoun culture, we are very open minded about religion here, mainly because the king that first indicted these religions, he did it from personal preference, as the story goes, first he went into Islam then changed to Christianity because in Islam you cant drink alcohol and he didn't like that , but then he changed back to Islam because in Christianity you couldn't marry multiple women, to end, before he died he created his own religion which basically translated into, "ask, and you'll receive." Most bamoun people are Muslim because that's religion of the king now, that's really why lol. For example, I'm christian, my grand-father was christian, my great-grand mother was Muslim, I have cousins/family members that are Muslims, so it's just a preference thing and who/what you grew up with. The Tikar people originated from current day Yemen, they migrated to Kemet, a.k.a when the Egyptians were still black all the way south west, they were in groups and when groups migrated, some split apart.They finally settle in Cameroon thousandths of years ago because as they stated "the land was perfect and the weather was favorable..." Although they found other ethnic groups that were living in Cameroon prior to their arrival, like the Baka pygmies, whom are one of the indigenous people of Cameroon because they live in the central African forest...That's how the story goes, I hope this helps. :)

Anne Diandra Thank you for taking the time out to explain this. Basically, I was referring to the spiritual systems. The Yoruba have a spiritual system called The Orisha... The Akan have a spiritual system called the Nanasom. I wanted to know if there was information on what our ancestors knew before Islam or Christianity existed.
@Ethereally_present
@Ethereally_present 9 жыл бұрын
I'm not one hundred percent sure about spiritual systems, as in what gods did the Tikar and Bamoun prayed to prior to modern religions but i do know that the Bamoun practiced Ancestor reverence, it is not the same as the worship of a deity or deities. In some African cultures, ancestors are seen as being able to intercede on behalf of the living, often as messengers between humans and the gods. As spirits who were once human themselves, they are seen as being better able to understand human needs than would a divine being. Ancestor veneration is prevalent throughout Africa and serves as the basis of many religions. It is often augmented by a belief in a supreme being, but prayers and/or sacrifices are usually offered to the ancestors who may ascend to becoming a kind of minor deities themselves. Another famous African culture that practice this is the Igbos of Nigeria, the mende people of Sierra Leone, Madagascar people...even the ancient Egyptians practiced ancestor veneration. I hope i answered your question :)
