Cami de Cavalls GR223 Part 1 - Truhike Menorca

Der Cami de Cavalls wurde während des 14. Jahrhunderts hauptsächlich als umfassende Trassenführung um ganz Menorca herum genutzt, mit dem grundsätzlichen Ziel, die Insel zu verteidigen. Seit 2010 ist der Weg wieder für die öffentliche Benutzung freigegeben und gehört mit seinen ca. 190 km Länge zum Streckennetz der Europäischen Fernwanderwege mit der Identifizierung GR223.
Wir waren in der zweiten Hälfte des Septembers 2022 mit Zelt und Hängematte unterwegs und haben den Weg von Maó durch den kahlen und einsamen Norden bis Ciutadella und von dort im Süden wieder zurück zur Inselhauptstadt gemacht. Immer wieder hat uns der Cami de Cavalls mit seiner sich ständig ändernden Natur überrascht.

The Cami de Cavalls was mainly used as a major route around Menorca during the 14th century, with the primary aim of defending the island. Since 2010, the trail has been open to the public again and, with a length of around 190 km, is part of the network of European long-distance hiking trails with the identification GR223.
We were out and about with a tent and hammock in the second half of September 2022 and made our way from Maó through the bare and lonely north to Ciutadella and from there in the south back to the island's capital. Again and again the Cami de Cavalls surprised us with its constantly changing nature.

Wir waren sehr überrascht über die Schönheit und hatten jetzt auch mit der Jahreszeit Glück, nicht zu heiß aber immer mal ins Wasser springen. Thanks for this beautiful video. I am attempting this walk next March, 2024 but I will not be carrying heavy rucksacks like that! Why so big and heavy? Wild camping is not allowed and for a few euros each day, they will take your bags to your next port of call.

Sorry, just a few more minutes into the video and you answered my question, but I was told that camping was strictly not allowed.

I did the GR in Mallorca where the same 'restrictions' apply. In practice , discreet and responsible wildcamping is usually always possible. I quote from a (Spanish) guidebook- 'Camping rough is prohibited, although it is allowed to pass the night under a detachable awning from night until morning'. I'll be there in May.
