Camille Bigeault is one of the few musicians who can play at the absolute highest level, both technically and musically. Her precision is mind-blowing. She literally floats through the different time signatures with ease. Some time ago I discovered her by chance on her Facebook account. The concept of a melodic ostinato with the TomToms and her approach to generating different time and groove perspectives by moving the other instruments had already left me speechless at that time. Another thing struck me. She manages to maintain the tension without losing it or, as is unfortunately all too common, switching too quickly into “escalation” mode.What a great musician.

I'll never forget the first time I realized my body began to play poly-rhythms. It's one of the best feelings a person can ever have. It was shockingly wonderful . . . almost like I was an audience to myself in absolute amazement.

@Xformat012 ай бұрын
@@fiddlestix3025 It was, and it was nearly 40 years ago . . . I'll never forget it. I've had two other similar moments. The last one was a couple years ago when I figured out how to make actual music with my electronic kit. The bad drum not only plays the bass drum, but also processes through a sequence of bass guitar notes. Other pads do the same thing and I figure out how to be a band all by myself. I was shocked when I figured it out. I would be playing with my eyes wide, mouth wide open in amazement over what I was hearing in my headphones. It was surreal . . . to be an entire band, making so much music and sound by myself. That E-kit had me playing things I have NEVER played before. I was playing things I never thought I could play.

@Xformat012 ай бұрын
@@fiddlestix3025 Wow. Well thank you! If you ever get the money, try to find an electric kit that plays different sounds that last for a few seconds each. For example, one sound may last for a few seconds, and so then you have to figure out the right tempo for that one sound, and then you begin playing the other sounds to fit that one sound. You might find, such as in my case, you're going to be playing like a 9/4 time signature. The left crash rim might also play another really cool sample to add to it, such as a sequence of horn samples. It will look through each note allowing you to be the horn section as well. Another might be a piano, doing the same thing . . . scrolling through a set of piano notes. It is UNBELIEVABLE!!! - There's one "kit" on my edrum module that is for Jazz drumming and holy crap . . . you will actually sound like an amazing jazz drummer. The bass drum plays the bass drum, but also 9 piano notes and of course, other pads play multiple sounds as well. When you figure out how to put it all together, you realize that you're a one man band. It is truly unbelievable. You'll be shocked, like I said, you'll feel like an audience unto yourself. Yes, you're playing, and you're making all of the music, but you're also amazed at what you're hearing . . . you can't believe that it is YOU making all that music . . . so you listen to yourself as if you're sitting in the audience. You will play things you have never played before! I promise!

Wow Camille made that time signature flow and groove. Snare beats placed so well with that rim shot. Hihat skipping along and punctuated with bass drum jabs. Catches all the punches in the open section with moving tom tom fills. This is engaging to watch. I am not at this level. Nicely done.

Half way through "A book by Gavin Harrison" .. It's CRAZY how you can literally hear a drummers influences. Same with guitarists for that matter. Like, I can immediately recognize Chad Smith (LOVED him in ELF) , Vinnie Paul, Lars, Gavin Harrison, Neil Peart, The Rev, Portnoy, Mangini, Bonham, Purdie, and lets not forget El Estepario.

If you notice the enjoyment that Camille has in playing in general, that is one of the reasons she is such a good player. It takes a drive to get there; a lot of hours of playing in the end.
