Tlhis is not a cello sonata. It is a sonata for cello and piano, the two bering equal soloists.

what happens with the pianists left hand? Why am I not allowed to hear the harmonics? One truly have to work in this sonata - but the balance is strange! The cello often comment the piano part-so why cant I hear it apart from some right hand and a lot of pedal?

I agree, the low end of the piano is not balanced and hard to hear (actually the whole piano sounds recessed compared to the cello), compared to, say, this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3i0o6SmmZ2Er7c

If Rachmaninoff had known that his sonata would be performed like this, he would have burned his manuscripts. But this is just my private opinion.

Leider absolut geschmacklos, da nutzt auch das Stradivari Cello nichts. Feuermann würde sich im Grab rumdrehen.🙁

The sound recording is abominable, sounding like the piano is muffled under a sheet and the cello is amplified like an electric guitar.
