I'm not doing the Camino yet. As of now, I'm the "2027 futuristic" pilgrim (based on your other vid, lol). Need to save up for it. But I enjoy watching your vids and have subscribed! As of now, I prefer to do the Portuguese route from Porto because I can do it in 2 weeks. In my occasional mountain hikes, I can do 35 km/ day, so I'm pretty confident that I can do ~25 km/ day and finish it in 2 weeks, due to time/ vacation constraints. It's also a less popular route, unlike the Frances which is very famous & commercial already. Cheers & buen camino!

We haven’t added our backpacks, yet, except for a water reservoir pack I have been wearing. Once this is easier, we will increase the distance again. It is possible to over train. I ended up with stress fractures in both heels, which my orthopedic doctor attributed to lots of mileage with my 10 pound pack. I trained for 1 year, increased my mileage weekly by 1/2 mile, and got up to 17 miles (in 6.5 hours, with several breaks), and then I started tapering down. After lots of forced rest, I am good to go now and leaving for the Camino in several weeks. Buen Camino!

It is better to use an ATM inside of a bank when it is open than to use a money exchange at the airport or train stations. Once you start walking, you will not find places to exchange money. An ATM will give you better rates too. Don't use the random ATMs that are on the street. Starting the Camino Frances in SJPDP on 15 April, so hope to run into you sometime over the following 47 days. (I am a slow walker and like to enjoy shorter days so that I have energy for sightseeing) It was so much fun meeting you last spring!

Both might be rainy but Portugues probably less. The primitivo would be chosen by people who like little hikes as some parts are in mountains- nothing like Himalayas, but still.😂 Portuguese central route is mostly flat and more easy to walk… it’s a good option!

Great content. Thank you for putting it together :)) Bringing some info about the SIM card: if you purchase a SIM card in EU, it will work in any EU country as it'd in the country you bought it

Looking forward to my first camino some day, but i was wondering if there was any option to just camp along the way rather than stay some place. I'm an avid camper and have hiking tents as well as just a lightweight hammock i enjoy sleeping in under the stars. Is this an option?
@caminotellers11 ай бұрын
Camping is illegal on Camino (and they can fine you really bad if they catch you!). There are some official places along the way but they aren’t many! 😕 accommodation is widely available and is not expensive, depending on the route of your choice you can find from €8 a night. And you also have donation albergues, where you can leave a donation for the accommodation they provide!

@caminotellers so I'm not allowed to be so tired I can't walk any more to get to the next place and just toss up a hammock or find myself unable to get a bed because everyone is full and end up sleeping on the street? well that sucks, I really enjoy sleeping in a hammock under the stars and also have a lot of social anxiety so I'm not super peopley.

Marius, you are the part of Caminotellers, you are so funny! (The wife part) Hahaha we would recommend you only Primitivo as it takes 16- 20 days,320 km by the mountains, not easy. And we prepare to walk slower, as you enjoy more ;) hugs

Hoping to walk my first Camino this Autumn. My reasons are multifarious... I am a 33 year old guy from London. After a beautiful but tragic relationship born in the Covid lockdown finally came to an end last year, and my ex finding someone new just a month ago, I have found myself feeling lost and consumed by doubt. This has combined with a large change in my professional life. I was a touring musician for 7-8 years (which was something that the lockdown killed, actually), but now, post Covid and post-her, I have found myself moving into voice acting. I filled the in between years with odd work such as horticulture, gardening and working in a record shop. The record shop in particular has been unfulfilling spiritually as it is an area surrounded by crackheads and drug dealers, people generally being unkind to themselves and to eachother. I find myself sick of my life here, sick of the city I've lived in for 13-14 years, tired of smoking weed, tired of not being healthy, tired tired tired. There have already been glimmers of hope. Voice acting is already making more money than music ever did for me, I am learning Spanish (my ex was Catalan and spoke several languages which inspired me). I am no longer smoking or drinking and am now planning to eventually move to Barcelona in the next year or so. The Camino de Santiago was recommended to me by a dear friend and fellow musician, who walked it after the breakup of a relationship that lasted for his entire 20s. It seems that the reflection afforded to those who walk the Camino, as well as the opportunities to meet and unmeet fellow travellers along the road is something of a metaphor for life. I hope that, as I reach this middle passage in life, that I may be afforded some of that reflection and may leave with a clearer understanding of myself in this new act.

You not gonna believe but the message somehow disappeared from our “comments board “ and the appeared again few days ago, so please excuse us a late answer! Thanks a mil for sharing your inspiring story of change, you are making a great steps towards the NEW you and Camino can be only a next consecutive one! We feel connected to your experiences as we are also artists and sharing our work with public is our daily bread. It’s not always easy, but it’s special! @@caminotellers Hey guys :) So my name is George and my surname is Smiley. Yes, it's true. My old band is called Smiley & The Underclass, which is the account I am posting from. I'll be walking the Camino Frances in mid-Sept to Oct (tickets are booked now, no turning back!) . I've enjoyed some of your live videos too, but it's funny, I don't want to see too much as I want every corner to be a surprise when I do get to walk! If you are around in that time it would be very cool to meet you both :) Otherwise, thanks for all the brilliant advice and videos

I begin Del Norte in Irun on May 3rd. Did you say you brought a guitar? I play classical guitar and I was thinking of bringing a six-string Ukulele. When I did the Frances last year I really missed not being able to play. What type of guitar did you bring?

I did the Portuguese last year and am planning on doing the primitivo but I am so scared that I will arrive at a town completely exhausted just to learn that there are no vacancies …what do you do? Can I prebook everyday ? How do you prebook?
@caminotellers Жыл бұрын
Hi! it seems that you got addicted to Camino?! that's a best addiction I ever had... hahah when arriving to Oviedo, which is the first stage of the Camino Primitivo, as well as any other ones, you can book in advance! I would recommend , if you have to book it, don't do it with a lot of anticipation, maybe one day ahead, as many things can happen in a day. U can use a "booking" for many albergues, easy and no phoning required. if you wish, you can use our affiliation link for Booking, in the description of this video!- you will get the best price and we will get a cut from the albergue/hostel- win win situation! hugs

Starting my Camino from Porto in a month time and I have a question, is it doable in 6 days? It was a spur of the moment thing to decide and walk the camino and I'm more than waiting to get my ass kicked.
