My 500+ mile walk along the Camino Frances route of the Camino de Santiago in 2021. A compilation of photos and videos including some from overhead using my trusty drone. Featuring many people that I met along the way. Hope you like it.

Thanks for those kind words Dawn. Yes I enjoyed that section, then I took a rest day in Logrono. The next part to Burgos through vineyard country is also lovely. Which section are you walking in March ?

Benvidos a Galicia.

Lovely video. The weather looks quite warm for September-October. I didn't notice any rain, and most people in short sleeves and shorts. Was that the case as I was thinking this time of the year might be too cold. Cheers Graham

Hi Graham, thanks for your comments. The weather was perfect, not too hot, just warm and comfortable. I had a few days of rain as you can see from me wearing waterproofs. Just one day in early October going into Logrono and a few days at the end in November in Galicia (which is notoriously rainy). Sep/Oct is perfect choice, I hear July and August are too hot. Buen Camino !

@tonytrace7237 Thanks Tony. Yes I definitely would not like to go July/Aug. I was going last month but had to cancel, so possibly Sep/Oct would be OK. Did you find that the countryside was dry and not so green after the summer. I must say I didn't notice that in your video.

Hi Graham. There are a variety of landscapes on the Camino. The Meseta (middle section) is dry and arid, and Galicia (last week) is the opposite, quite green. And all sorts of beautiful scenery in between. Are you doing the Frances from St Jean pdp ? The start over the Pyrenees is breathtaking scenery

@tonytrace7237 Hi Tony. I walked Sarria to Santiago in May 2017, so I have had a taste of the Camino. I was going to start from SJPDP last month and walk to Logrono. Then gradularly do the remainder sections at future times.

Bravo and thank you for this lovely video and memories Tony! It seems that even in October, there are still crowds on the camino? Was it difficult to find beds in municipal alberguès at that time of year? The Frances has / had a unique character and I'm hankering to go back! Merci mon ami.

Hi Susan, thanks for those comments. I didn't stay in albergues as I had all my accommodation pre-booked for me by a tour company. But several people I walked with stayed in albergues and generally didn't have many issues. Guide books were out of date as many albergues had closed due to the pandemic and those albergues that stayed open filled up quickly, but generally there were few problems for people. Hope this helps, Tony

I have never done this but am very tempted; the only thing that worries me is the accommodations. I don't want to do it with luxury hotels but how are the hostel/auberges? Are they clean? Are there bugs? How does one choose the best ones? I would appreciate your response on this...and anyone else's who reads my message. thank you!

Hi Danielle. The Camino is wonderful, you would love it. I'm the wrong person to comment on the albergues as I stayed in pre-booked private hotel rooms. But I met a lot of people who were staying in albergues and generally I think they were OK. If I were you I would search for more KZbin videos, there are hundreds of Camino stories from other people, most of whom have used the albergues. You should find all the info you need. There is also a Facebook group called 'Camino de Santiago 2022' with a lot of questions from people who are doing it, and answers from people who've already done it. Great place for information. Buen Camino. Tony

@@tonytrace7237 Thank you so much for answering! i will watch the above of course. One more question: did you pre-book the private hotels before your entire trip or book as you went, day by day? You are very kind for answering Tony...I kind of didn't expect it and am really pleasantly surprised!
@daniellehilson5128

One more thing: do you have a site that lists the private hotels you stayed at? Or perhaps I can find that on you tube as well?

@@daniellehilson5128 hi again. I booked the whole Camino trip with a holiday company. There are several companies that do Camino holidays - they will include all accommodation and luggage transfers - so you can carry just what you need for each day. The luggage was always magically at the next hotel before I got there. I met a lot of people carrying backpacks with their entire possessions - heavy bags ! It's also possible to book luggage transfers out there, some people did that for occasional days. Beware the organised holiday companies are VERY expensive compared with the albergues. So it depends whether you want comfort and guaranteed hotels or want to save money. The other risk with booked hotels is that if anything goes wrong, you have an injury, blisters etc, you don't have flexibility to rearrange hotel bookings. Luckily in my case that didn't happen

Hi Tony, it would have been nice to cross paths. Great drone footage, what drone do you have & would you recommend it? I did a vlog from October - December 2021 on the camino, if you feel like reliving it from a different angle. We even had a snowy day!

Hi TangerineHorizons (or can I call you TH for short ?). Thanks for that comment. The drone I use is the DJI Mini 2, definitely recommend it, lightweight drone (under 250g) so few flying restrictions, and great camera. Sure I'll look at your vlog now
